Insurance quote on Mk3 Octavia - quite reasonable.

Featured Replies

While killing time sat in a hotel room I thought I'd run my details past the Meerkats.

For a CR150 Octavia Elegance doing 12000 miles a year with business & legal cover I was getting quotes between £280 and £320 from a wide selection of well known insurers, and with a bit of tweaking and cashback I'm sure I'd end up paying £250 or less.

I realise that one person's quote isn't much use to anyone else, but by way of comparison I paid about £230 for the same cover on a 4 year old 105bhp Fiat Bravo last year, and that's worth about a quarter of the price.

Looks like the Mk3 could be a reasonably cheap car to insure which is nice to know.

Every little helps! Good to know.

Do you get your insurance from Tesco then Dunc? :)

Ha ha! Very good.

Nope. Adrian Flux, who are excellent btw.

I was going initially to try Skoda insurance. The good thing about using manufacturer's insurance is they guarantee all repairs and parts used are genuine OEM spec.

I have also always found manufacturers insurance pretty competitive.

Competitive? Skoda quoted me £130 or so more than direct line.

Believe it or not Sheila's wheels were the cheapest for my new rapid, like for like cover too.

I know a local bodyshop well and it's vag approved, taken cars there before and insurance company always paid up.

I got a quote from skoda insurance when I took the free 7 day insurance on my octy 3 1.4elegance...... It came out £200 more expensive then my present vRS price!

I'll get some competitive quotes before I decide, but with insurance you have to be careful not to compare apples with oranges! It's not just the bottom line.....

We are back at Tesco's again! Is this thread sponsored by The Grocer?

The value of the vehicles makes very little impact.

I just swapped my insurance over from a 1995 Landrover Discovery which is worth around a grand to a 2012 Shogun LWB 3.2 Diesel worth around 27 Grand and it cost me £20 extra for the next 6 months.

Makes no sense to me.
