Anyone on 35mm lowering springs with standard dampers ?

Featured Replies

Looking to lower my 56 plate vrs by 35mm just to tighten her up a bit and give a better stance over 17"s. Will be using original dampers with new springs. Can anyone recommend what they have ?

35mm on original dampers.

I wouldn't. You'll potentially wear them a lot more quickly, could bottom them out and also get a poor ride.

Look at how low you really want to got, then look at spring/damper combinations such as the bilstein B12 kit or similar from other manufacturers.

I've gone for 35mm springs and I'll use standard shocks. I've bought them but I'm still to put them on.

I had KW V2 coilovers on my last Octavia VRS and my 04 Fabia VRS had the Eibach springs and damper combo, so I've had a couple of combinations before.

The -35mm and standard shock argument seems to go on forever in the forums but I reckon you're about on the limit for the shocks at that height. HR -45mm springs would definitely need the dampers changing.

I've been out in a car on Eibach springs with standard shocks and there wasn't any bounciness. I'm fully prepared to have to replace the shocks if the ride is terrible but I'm happy to just do the springs and see how I go, but I don't anticipate any major problems going on others' experience.

The HR -45mm doesnt lower it that much, there is still a sizeable gap and the ride is perfect:)

Hi blakeburn, yes mate I'm with you on that one. I would be prepared to change dampers after lowering if the ride was poor but might well be ok, worth a try only a few hours labour and money saved until dampers def need changing. Are you planning on putting yours in soon ? Looking at ordering a spring kit end of the month. Keep an eye on this thread and update when done I will do same mate. Any other views anyone ???

Are Eibach Pro springs ok with standard shocks on fl vrs cr?

I have H&R 35mm springs on standard dampers with no issues, only drops about 15mm over the standard vrs springs

I have some Eibachi lowering springs in the garage. I was going to fit them but our drive has a very steep access so I have deicded against it. Let me know if you'd like them, to be honest I have been meaning to put them on eBay for a while now.

To get the full 35mm drop on a VRS you'd need to go for around a 50mm drop set of springs.
