Monte Carlo NEED more Speed!

Featured Replies

Anyone Fitted an induction kit to the 1.2 model? Looking for abit more power! Don't have the turbo model, wish I had of went for it!

Anyone have any other tips for getting more power? Serious options no time wasters!

induction kit wont make any difference at all since the power is regulated by the ECU, the same intake is used by more powerful versions than the 1,2. The only way to get more speed is to get a remap, and on a 1.2 NA engine the gains will be tiny and not cost effective. You'd be looking at 5-10 BHP at best which you'll not notice at all.

It will remap to around 130bhp, assuming it's the 1.2tsi.

An induction kit may give you an extra 1 on it's own.

I thought the Monte only came with the 1.2TSI or 1.6TDI?

It does.

EDIT: Just noticed the poster is from Northern Ireland.

Maybe they fit the asthmatic 1.2 NA over there to a sporty looking car, which seems a bit odd.

Good God.

Well that limits a remap to a whopping extra 5bhp or so then I think. :giggle:

monte comes with these engines

Monte Carlo 1.2 12V 69PS **

Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 86PS

Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 105PS

Monte Carlo 1.6 TDI CR 75PS **

Monte Carlo 1.6 TDI CR 105PS

Yes, unfortunately the OP has the engine that maps to around 75bhp, rather than the other two petrols that map to 130bhp.

There is one option.

It's called the vRS! :)

No option then? ;)

Why step down from a Monte to a vRS?

If the Monte was available a) in an Estate version and B) with DSG when my time to choose came, I'd have had one - they look better than the vRS IMHO :bandit:

So what tuning boxes are aviable for the 1.2 tsi 105?

Yes, I agree. I have thought about styling my Estate like a Monte, but I think I have come to the conclution that it is too expensive.

They are bringing out the Monte in Estate form. Have a google. http://new.skoda-aut...neva-motor-show

That doesn't always guarentee we'll get it.

For example, they do a Hatchback version of the Scout...

If Skoda UK don't think there is enough of a market they won't import them.

Hopefully the demand will be there.

There's the TMC box which is pricey but I've heard nothing but good things about them from FiatForum when I had my Bravo. That gives 125bhp and 225Nm of torque, not far off the old vRS.

Would fitting a tuning box go against the clauses of the contract for the car? I've had a read through mine and will buy a box, if I'm allowed to do so
