In case it matters in using the jack that came with the car.. Any tips or tricks?

If its the jack that comes with the car use the sill as it is a v shaped jack

Are there arrows on the sills showing where to jack the car up? According to my Haynes manual there is but I've never noticed any on my car.

Yes.

Excuse my ignorance.. When you say the sill as in the flat bit not the bar that is a few inches in with a notch in?

I wasn't sure if that could support the jack?

When I use a jack I usually have a piece of 3x2 on the top to spread the weight at the contact point - just make sure the car isn't going to fall of it !

You are meant jack directly on the sill on the Fabia. This being the bit which is folded down (the bar), not the flat. There should be a notch in it front and rear to demonstrate where to jack.

Nope, mine doesn't have the notches either.

Yes I jack with some wood too to spread the weight and be a little softer on the sill.

I jack mine up using the end of the wishbone that connects with the main body of the car ans then throw a axel stand with a small block of wood with a groove in it and araldited to the stand where the actual jacking point is on the sill.

i never use sills , i always jack cars on where the wishbone bolts to the subframe

page 181 of the manual

On the rear I jack on the sill but with a block of wood with a slit cut in it.

Front is pretty clear where to jack from :)
