Ordered a Monte Carlo Tech...but having doubts!

Featured Replies

Came from a Monte Carlo 1.2 tsi (86bhp) to a Vrs. Its a hard one as both cars offer something different. Being really subjective I actually prefer the looks of the Monte over the Vrs. But the Vrs has won me over with the DSG and performance with just a little more penalty at the pumps. The ride of the Vrs can be hard over the pot hole filled roads in Liverpool.

If I was looking now though the Monte Tech seems a very good value proposition.

I would actually go for the diesel with a remap.

My monte didn't have a rattle or squeak, whereas the Vrs has rather a lot, which isn't brilliant.

There is though the new Fiesta which divides option on here. My friend has little Zetec one and it handles and rides really well.

Having just come from a Fabia vRS estate into a 1.2tsi engined Rapid, I am having more fun with the 6 speed box.

Can't compare the Rapid directly to the Fabia as its a segment above and handles/rides better.

Engine wise, I miss the power on silly over takes and straight roads/roundabout exits etc but not missing the fuel and oil consumption :)

May well get a remap but for now I am content.

Massive fan of the rapid! Would like to see it in an estate/vrs version!

Give us a chance! :D

I've just looked at the Skoda website, and it looks as though the standard Monte Carlo is currently available on the no VAT offer, whereas the Monte Carlo Tech isn't

What difference has that made to new prices, if any?

I asked 2 dealers if the vat free offer was still on the monte they said no. I quoted the skoda website as vat on the tech. not on normal monte they said could be miss print as to there details off skoda say no

It used to be available on the standard Monte, that's why I got mine in 2011 before chopping in it in for the Elegance

I sometimes wonder if the dealers know what's on offer and what isn't

That's what I read, which suggests Monte is on 0% VAT, but Monte Tech is excluded, just working by the position of the brackets

Is the Monte-tech not on the vat free because it is already discounted at £11k standard offer price?

Would be interested to see a vRS rapid, not a fan of the standard car tho -the interior looks Muchos cheap nastiness. When I sat in one it felt like a step down from the furby vrs. :-(

Tom - just got one in elegance spec with sports seats, better than the vrs I had. Steering wheel is a bit meh - need a sporty one lol

Ahhh, that will prob be an improvement I would imagine. The one I sat in was an 'se' I think!
