fabia VRS 55reg rear brakes getting hot

Featured Replies

hi all

recently a mechanic friend did the rear discs and pads on my 55reg fabia vrs

now the rear wheels are getting red hot and they do squeak when moving

he has checked it again and the calipers do seem free and sliders are moving fine

it only seems to happen when warm (brakes have expanded etc)

anyone have any idea what could be wrong

thanks martyn

Hi Martyn

When your mechanic did the job, did he wind back the pistons ?

if not that could be the problem !

If the extra brake fluid wasn't removed when the pistons were wound back that could lead to binding. I had this when a main dealer changed the disks and pads on our Octavia. Within a short space of time it lead to (front) wheel bearing failure.

I cannot see your point ! If you wind back the pistons with the wind back tool it just pushes the pistons and the fluid back up the system ! and what has it got to do with the front wheel bearing failure ?
