Best place to buy Poorboys wax etc

Featured Replies

As the title says I would like to know where is the best place to buy Poorboys wash / wax?

Also can anyone recommend any particular products to use on my silver vRS?

Cheers.

no local detailing shops? theres one near me thats always been great for pb stuff. i also use werkstats on mine as the pop is brilliant and it leaves a geat wet look shine

i usually wash, detox, wash, clay, use something like srp if its not bad, then glaze with pb, then use werkstats spray glaze on top of that, then ill seal with megs 16 or aghd

I bought my pb black hole off eBay from seller: abberlee

Sorry to seem stupid, I'm a bit of a beginner with the detailing side of things.

What's detox? And clay? And srp?

Thanks for all the help :)

Go for Dodo Juice Light Fantastic Wax. Will look awesome on Silver paint.

You can get small 30ml pots for about a fiver too.

Don't forget the wax before glazing! :-)

Detox I'm guessing to strip the previous wax etc off. Srp Is super resin polish by auto glym.

Clay is a piece of clay you rub over your paintwork that removes bugs/tar/dirt that doesn't come off when your wash. Very useful

Wax before or after glazing?

I use Collinite wax, very highly rated!

Before wax, after polish. It seals it in then.

The glaze normally hides any smaller imperfections too. I use Poorboys Black Hole.

I order all mine from Elitecarcare.

Black hole is one of the best car products out there IMO. Won't be much use of silver though, it's only effective on dark coloured cars

I tried the Angelwax AG Wax the other week on my missus car - http://www.angelwax.co.uk/?wpsc-product=ag

Very cool wax designed for silver cars specifically, bit more durable than Dodo but still looks great.

Cheers for the replies lads. Roughly know what I need to buy now! :)

sorry i didnt get back to you mate wasnt on much yesterday after my post. as others are saying polished bliss or elite car care, i get most of mine from CLB valeting but theyre local to me in wrexham anyway.

if youre not on there already try detailing world forum for some hints and tips, or even better if youre able to find a local valeter / detailer get to know them and ask advice etc.

detox is basically removing ingrained dirt and grime and removing stuff that youre shampoo didn't or can't.

this is the way i do it with mine for the first major wash of the year

rinse car down, removing any major pieces of dirt etc with use of jet hose (dont get too close if youre not confident).

i then snowfoam the car (basically a very very thick foam, which is made up of a water and a snow foam mix with a little shampoo in too) i let that dwell for 5-10 mins before rinsing off with jet hose.

i then do my wheels, i only use one bucket and a dedicated wheel cleaner and various brushes making sure i remove the nut caps and rinse out there too (if you can be bothered and have the time i usually leave the wheels till the end and remove them and wash individually but if you dont have the time wash the wheels before the rest of the car as otherwise youll get brake residue on the car) and then i rinse each wheel down after washing, and before moving onto the next wheel i spray tar-x and iron-x on (these are dedicated tar and iron deposit cleaners, basically helps remove all ingrained filings from the brakes and fallout and the tar too) and then by the time ive finished the last wheel i can rinse these off.

i get my two buckets (make one up of warm water and 75ml of shampoo - always buy a decent shampoo, dont be tempted to use wash and wax, halfords or pound shop specials as theyll ruin or even strip off all your hard work - and the other bucket with 50ml of shampoo in) and then i snowfoam the car again

this time instead of rinsing the foam off i wash the car, i have three mitts one for the roof and glass, one for the rest of the top half of the car and one for the bottom half. dip the mitt in the the heavy shampoo mix (75ml - this is your wash bucket) and start to wash, every so often dip into the other bucket (50ml shampoo mix - this is rinse bucket) and squeeze out water before dipping back into wash bucket and continuing.

once car is washed rinse down with open ended hose

i then detox the car, i start with spraying telco daisy all purpose cleaner all over the body panels and in all the shuts door and boot etc, then agitate with another mitt or brush, then rinse down. dry car off using microfibre drying towel then spray iron x and tar x to car and leave it to work and then rinse down after this. i then get fresh buckets made up and wash car again to make sure all cleaners are removed, and rinse off again with open ended hose.

next i clay the car (easy start clay kit is the meguiars one - easily found in halfrauds) and then rinse down again with snowfoam and rinse off with open ended hose.

car should now be detoxed completely and be clean.

i start with some autoglym super resin (you choose whichever is easy and comfortable to use for you, dont go for one brand because everyone says its cool - imo dodo juice is a perfect example everyone says its amazing but in my experience its nothing special at all but thats just me, plus its expensive compared to many others out there) and use my da polisher to deep clean the car even more.

once ive done two passes with srp im ready to move onto sorting any minor scratches etc, (i use various polishes for this not sticking to any one brand though pb do some good polishes)

i then glaze using werkstat or pb white diamond, usually giving it a couple of coats

sometimes ill leave it at that, especially if the weathers going to be really nice but if not, ill then seal it by using various products again, werkstat, poor boys exp etc. again you can leave it now as its perfectly fine or you can seal it further with wax. dont let anyone ever tell you you cant apply wax over a sealant as its rubbish, because you can. using a wax protects the car for longer than a sealant does ive found, however it can dull the appearance depending on how many layers you apply or how thick you apply.

once done though just keep on top of it with use of regular weaker washes and using detailing spray

youll never get a silver car to look as good as say a black car will but, you can get a silver car to pop better, and have a slicker wetter look than most coloyrs and theyre also far more forgiving

meant to say that nattys paste wax is a great wax, easy on and off in most conditions, but doesnt last as long as many others. i like to use megs 16 if you can find it as its easy on and off, lasts well and beads brilliantly, but as theyve stopped making it its getting hard to come by

I've ordered some stuff from ultimatefinish.co.uk this week, free delivery on orders of £30 & above.

Ordered a few other bits from Amazon recently too; including Dodo Juice & Poorboys items. Worth a look on there for prices, some are very reasonable.
