Great little upgrade for vrs - Without warranty problems

Featured Replies

try this site for an upgrade to a sensible 165bhp and 280 ft/lb which is just plug and play. a friend of mine has it and he removes it prior to a service, in about 7mins, and the dealer doesnt even know it was there.

site is http://www.mrhoot.com

also with this mod it is set to the best medium, of power, torque and economy but buy removing the end panel and adjusting the dipp switches, to all on, it runs a theoretical 185-190 bhp and approx 330ft/lb torque  , which i am told is still within the limits of the standard clutch etc.

i've been out in my mates and it is unbelievable.

by the way i am a male, although my screename is sue4273, as i use my other halfs email. my name is simon.

Ah a dragon tuning box :D

Welcome to the site :wavey:

Nice upgrade - best to tell your insurer though as otherwise that cheap upgrade will mean you are uninsured ;)

Don't complain when they don't give you the warranty as your clutch burns out though..

Hold on is this even possible without uprating the boost pressure on the turbo ? IIRC all this box does if put more fuel into the engine but it don't touch the boost pressure.

BTW Welcome Sue / Simon or whoever you are

Yep, IIRC, Dragon quote a 30% performance increase from this box so you'd be looking at about 170bhp tops, imho :D Would help fuel economy though ;)

So this must uprate boost pressure then ??

Nope, it simply overfuels. It's similar to the 30 quid eBay resistor mod, but has a little bit more trickery in it to get round causing the fuel temp sensor fault to be logged. :D

Might do - if overfuelling increases the pressure of air in the exhaust manifold, the turbo would spin faster, so the intake pressure would be increased also... :rubchin:

Rob I can't see that you could get 170bhp from just fueling though can you ? If so everyone would just buy one of these instead of getting there car remapped for over

Rob I can't see that you could get 170bhp from just fueling though can you?

No, I'd be surprised...but then, I guess it depends on the RR used! ;)

And yes, you're right, the actuator wouldn't change, so the peak pressure wouldn't change...

;):D

Dragon quote 160 bhp and about 270 lb ft.

It is IMO the safest way to get more power from a Fabia vRS. It increases power nicely, but everything remains relatively within limits, and because it doesnt up boost, less problems with heatsoaking etc...

so 160bhp is only really 15bhp from standard as most of the fabia's I've seen on the rollers make 145bhp anyway.

No, its +30 bhp. So if the rollers read 145 bhp std then its 175 bhp on those rollers :D

It does work and it works very well....massive amounts of torque makes towing a caravan so easy you don't even have to change down going uphill just a slight increase in throttle and away she goes......sooo much fun :D

Ah, so they do! Looks like it's just 30% on the PD100 :D

Chris

But you should see the look on some peoples faces when they get beaten away from the lights by a diesel towing a one ton caravan :D

Overfuelling the PD130 will not make it 175bhp or am I missing something here ?

PD130's are 130bhp ;) You will see 160ish bhp on an accurate rolling road. On an innacurate rolling road, ie one recording 145bhp as the base power, you'll get an innaccurate final figure, eg 175bhp ;)

Borrow one for a couple of hours from someone ....fun fun fun and they only take 10 minutes to fit

Don't need to ;)

Chris I sent Skoda UK a letter about the final figures and they told me 130bhp was the minimum you would expect from a PD130. 145bhp is the usual. Unless you are saying Dragon's RR is um hum generous ;)

I don't see Dragon claiming 145bhp as the starting bhp on their web site, so their rolling road sounds spot on :P
