Thinking about tuning an sdi...

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about getting an sdi for a little project car, I'm woundering how much bhp you can get from these things...

Things to note:

I already have a tdi pd130 so dot want to put a tdi engine in.

Of course money is always a problem but not a great issue here.

I just want to see whats possible and what other people have done, I'm thinking exhaust, injectors, manifold, remap, air intake... Possibly cams if any performance ones have been made and depending on price, egr delete etc...

I reckon 20 bhp

So you want to take a cheap (read older and will have seen a fair bit of life), slow NA diesel that's known for economy/reliability and throw money at it to make it an expensive, slow NA diesel that isn't going to be as economical or probably as reliable?

Good luck with that :)

Why not get an older TDI (non PD) Octy to play with, you can do all the above and I know of a cheap one locally, you'll actually get something for your money in performance terms out of it.

Buy something old and 1.8T and play with that. Much more fun.

20hp is a significant difference - of course it depends whether it is at the right revs and how the torque matches - and is worth further investigation. Anybody actually done it?
