Insurance but for tools ......

Featured Replies

Hi guys I know this is off topic but I'm trying to find someone to insure my tools through I use and keep them at work but I'm not self employed and they all seem to be aimed at tradesman and and so on so

I'm after advice if anyone can help me :)

What sort of rough value are we talking about? It was no problem for me to get £1000 of "tools and hobby equipment off premises" cover added to my Home Contents cover.

Around 3k lol I've never bothered in nearly 10 years of own and buying tools but we've had 3 break ins in 12 months at work and last time out the scumbags took the bosses toolbox but left mine and another lads ! We can only think it was because of the location of the boxes to the door they opened to get out but the old bill have said they will probably be back as they know their way round now and know what's left to take next time ! So for now its locked up in one of the offices while I source a chain strong enough to raise the titanic to put around it !!!

You may (should IMO, but that's by the by) be covered by your employer's contents insurance, but you'd need to see the schedule to answer that one either way.

As I hinted above, it should also be possible to add them to your own home contents cover.
