Blown Turbo

Featured Replies

Hi there, some of you may remember that in early january i blew the turbo on my octy vrs it is detailed in this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?p=256127#post256127

well basically i eventually got round to replacing it in late february and it worked well untill early april when i blew the replacement one  i don`t generally drive hard and i do warm it up correctly and let it cool before turning it off so it can`t be abuse thats doing it,i obviously have a fault even though non are logged so can anyone suggest what may be causing the problem cos i don`t want to replace it again only for it to last another couple of months before dying again, when i replaced the original turbo i removed the oil lines and cleaned to make sure there where no blockages to rule out oil starvation, what i appear to have is a problem possibly with venting the boost,dv was serviced before rebuild so was wondering what else could cause a problem without logging a fault code N75? N249? Wastegate actuator? could any of these cause the problem? because when old turbo was removed there was no play in the shaft side to side but there was plenty of play in the shaft in and out, to the extent that the compressor wheel is catching on the compressor housing and curling the blades over so it seems it is geting a lot of pressure pushed back through the turbo from the exhaust side presumably? i`ve left it off the road since april cos i admit i lost interest but now i`m starting to miss it so i`m going to get a turbo and rebuild it again and would like some ideas of what to check to stop it happening again cos i can`t have it blowing a 3rd time, any opinions or advice are welcomed

regards

Dan

It may be worth ringing up REVO - those guys ought to have some ideas as they work with highly tuned cars a lot :)

Hope you get it sorted though, that sounds very painful :(
