You can paint it what ever colour you like!

 

It will need stripping right back anyway.

Yes, but you will need to strip the old paint off.

All of the clips are intact and there are no cracks in the surround either.

To paint it properly so the paint won't chip easily it's best to remove the chrome. Read the best way was to soak it in cheap bleach for a couple of days. Never tried it myself tho

I painted mine with black stone chip paint, and then put a thin coat of lacquer over the top.

 

It hasn't chipped yet, but no doubt it will do at some point.

Mines plasti dipped. 11quid off ebay.

I put about 8 coats on and a month later it still looks good.

Gives a rubber / plastic finish so shouldn't really stonechip.

Mine was a 53 plate Elegance TDI. As far as I know the only differences in the grilles are pre and post face lift. Mine is post facelift.
