Dash like a christmas tree... No speedo... Loud beep. HELP!

Featured Replies

Okay, new issue on the Fabia...

Driving along minding my own business, all of a sudden the dash lit up with -

- ASR

- ABS

- ( ! )

- PAS light

Lost power steering and the brake servo, and also had no speedo... Just dropped to zero?!

I've been looking around on here and other sites, it seems my problem could be :

- Front left ABS sensor

- Dirty ABS rings

- Broken VSS thing on back of gearbox

- Split in loom

- Cream crackered ABS control module or ECU (I hope not!)

Has anyone else had similar issues? If I turn the car off then on most lights go off but as I continued driving I also had the following light up as well! -

- EML

- SRS

- Fuel gauge going crazy

My main question is, could my issues be caused by the fact I currently have 3 Octavia Spiders (17") on my car and the passenger rear is the steelie spare wheel? Could the one smaller wheel be confusing the car?

Also, my reverse lights currently dont work, presumably due to the sensor on the gearbox that commonly goes. Is that the same sensor that people have had issues with for the speedo or are they different?

I havent plugged it in or anything yet, as the fault has only been present since last night and this morning. Any help with this would be great, all suggestions welcome!

PS Probably help if I say what model lol... 55 plate VRS with 98k on the clock

Why are you running odd wheels for a start?

Odd size wheels rotating at different speeds will confuse the ABS sensors.

Refurbing my OEM 16s and the Spiders have 205/50 tyres so it rubs like mad on the passenger rear, so my only option to get by for this week whilst the 16s are at the powder coaters is to run the 16" spare steelie instead. The other three corners dont rub at all and obviously I have no further wheels to use so it's just got the one 16" on the passenger rear and the rest are all 17" spiders

Fit 4 wheels of the same size and same size tyres, reset the ECU and see if you still get the problem.

I'd agree that this seems to be an issue with the odd-size wheel. I'm guessing that the Christmas tree went off out of town as the speed rose?
