Come on then Col, tell us what difference it's made to the driving experience :P

Driving experience = :D but bigger  nuff said..

also should do me well for future mods ;)

I must say that is very impressive of Forge, people wanted, they supplied, and very quickly to

Looks like a quality piece of engineering :)

It is, im very impressed too, a full kit in just over 2 and a half days.. one of the benifits of doing all their manufacturing in-house.. theve got a very well-tooled engineering section, and seeing the amount of products they actually make is very impressive.. they are very much a "can do" company.

Uhm, why are you blocking >50% of the FMIC? Surely that reduces the effectiveness?

For the road it shouldn't make that much difference, although the air should be forced upwards.

The track is where you really need to full front of FMIC.....holes behind number plate perhaps would do....crash bar is a bugger to drill through though...apparentyl.

Yup, on the move, the turbulance will ensure the full surface area of the fmic will be "hit"

also true, if the crash bar was removed, efficiency will be even better.. but 99% of the potential customers dont want that :)

True - but then it's still way better than the original one ;)

You could probably create a bigger gap but then the crash bar would have to be altered, which I must admit would stop me from getting it (at the moment, lack of cash already does that anyway though  )

The fmic could probably be lower by about an inch (its adjustable mounts)

and its designed to be as effective with the crash bar in place..

and as the crash bar doesnt need to be modified (ala octavia one) the kit is cheaper :)

Reckon it's probably good as it is as you get more air directly in through the grill....lowering it looks like you'd loose some of that behind the crash bar and would be really on turbulence forcing air upwards.

I wonder is Forge sell the modified crash bars....would save me have to do some drilling/angle grinding. ;)

Just sell the octy and buy an evo ;)

the modified ones that come in the kit are just with brackets to fit the intercooler..

im not sure it would be a good idea from a safety/legal point of view for any company to sell stuff that will affect the safety of the car.

There is that...plus the servicing every 4.5k and other running costs...oh..and more importantly SWMBO didn't like it.

Wasn't really sure what the difference was...thanks for that Col.

Agree on the safety accept...and that's one of the reasons why I haven't been to Small-hands Motorsports to have some angle grinding work done. ;)

That look seriously tasty.

So a few standard questions....

Does the crash bar need to be modified?

How much does it cost?

Does it affect driveability in anyway i.e. lag etc (Showing my non-existant understanding of how these things work!

Nope.. no crashbar mods.. just a small bit of plastic cut from the radiator cowling.

How much does it cost?

Forge say

Indeed, but I'm far too lazy for that...

News of a Briskoda discount. Excellent!!!!

Easy to fit?

  • Author

Yep. by the looks of things. :)

God this forum is like a parasite, it just keeps eating away at my wallet!

I bought my vRS with the intention of "no mods", however i'm now trying to think of any excuse to fit an FMIC, exhaust, new clutch and then get it re-remapped.

Just a quick question at a slight tangent, if I were to get an FMIC fitted along with a new exhaust system, would it be of benefit to get the car remapped again, or will the Jabba map compensate these mods to still give the best performance possible?

Also, are pikey mod's 1/2 of any use, and would pikey mod 1 be of use in both arch liners now? :D

Ooops just to add to the above, if we were to fit the FMIC myself will it come with instructions as it doesnt seem too awkward looking at the kit.

Im pretty sure it would come with instructions.. the octy one does.

:)

if you got a zorst and this it would prob be worth gettin jabba to tweek your map :)

Agree with Col...on it's own you should notice a difference particularly higher up the range when power tends to fall off due to heat.

To make most of the improved cooling you should get your map tweek to suit.

The 'crash bar' s its called is actually a bumper mounting bar and actually has very little in the way of reinforcement, its just a single skin steel construction and folds up at the slightest nudge.

and do ALL mods before going in the first place really. :) Which is why I'm damned determined to get everything done to mine before I nip back. I'll have conquered pretty much all mods that can be done prior to a remap soon, so in theory should be optimised for it. :)

Downside is, there'll be nowhere left to go up to afterwards, but I'm happy with that. Its time for my modding to stop, and just use the car once its perfect in my eyes. :)
