Red vRS Caliper Paint

Featured Replies

Does anybody know where I might get a good matching red caliper paint? It seems I need a new OS rear caliper, on changing the discs and pads today I discoverd the piston wouldn't wind back no matter how hard I tried...

Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but you weren't trying to use the clockwise tool on an anti clockwise threaded piston or vice-versa were you?.

Ah no mate I used the same clockwise tool on the other side, as it happens when I changed the pads last January the os was really stiff I had to fight with it to get it back, no such luck today though as you can see..

Not done the Octy ones but on my old Volvo, one side had a clockwise piston, the other anticlockwise. Two different tools required which puzzled me for a while!

Id imagine it would, but I don't remember changing tools last year and the pads are worn uneven, I remember another member on here saying the os was stiff.

Should both be clockwise

I've used some Renault touch up from our old clio to repaint a chip which looked a good match to me. the part code is 77 11 144 194 uv1 727. Think it's something like capsicum red from memory, but I'd suggest you take your caliper in and check the match

Thanks for that, I could even take it to a local supplier and ask them for the best match.

Also in Halfrauds they do caliper paint and the Red they have is a very good match

Hammerite smooth is a perfect match, i used it to match the calipers on my caddy when i ran the 312mm.

Halfords heat paint.

I ended up buying the halfords caliper paint this morning, I think it looks orangy compared to the pink original colour... Ill post a pic of it fitted tomorrow. u5u7urer.jpg

You need to do the carrier too. The Hammerite smooth is certainly Red but its damn bright!

I'm gonna have to do the rest or it'll look rubbish.

Yeah my girlfriend has hammerite smooth on her brakes I think the halfords paint is a better match. ill get around to the carrier I had already bolted it on before I discoverd the piston was seized it would have meant removing it again and buying new bolts again im just happy to have it back on the road it was without a doubt the worst ever brake job ive ever done! Rounded disc retaining screws (both sides) those carrier bolts that don't wanna budge, seized piston and I had to make a new pipe (part between caliper and flexi hose) not to mention very limited acsess.

Build up a few more layers of paint and it will deepen in colour better.
