Door Mirrors not folding

Featured Replies

Help ! All of a sudden my door mirrors will not fold when holding the fob button. They fold perfectly using the mirror control switch. At the same time the drivers window also will not drop or raise when holding the fob button (all others are OK). If I use the key all drop and raise OK, linked to this the window will not drop automatically when using the window switches inside - CONFUSED ? I know I am !!

Are you using the spare key ?

Have tried with both keys - thought that might be it at first as my wife was driving and using "her" key. But when she got home and told me about it I tried with my key and the same problems.

I think you may need to re-calibrate the windows. You will probably find that the full push on the drivers side window does not send it all the way down (or up). Easy fix. roll down the offending window then back up all the way holding the button in the up position for a few seconds after the window is all the way up, release the button then within a second pull up the button once more. Your mirrors should then work just fine.

Taken from the manual, I had it round the wrong way:

Automatically operated power windows do not operate

If the battery of the car has been disconnected and then reconnected, the automatically

operated power windows do not operate. The system must be activated.

Proceed as follows in order to re-establish the function:

? switch on the ignition,

? slightly pull on the upper edge of the relevant button and hold it until the window

is closed,

? release the switch,

? you must pull the respective switch again in upward direction for approx. 3

seconds.

Good its sorted bazman57. The system seems to check for all glass closed before folding back the Yeti ears. Window re-calibration is not something unique to VAG cars. A hard frost on the side windows can confuse the window closing on many manufacturers cars.
