Vrs wheel fitment

Featured Replies

been loking for some new wheels for my vRS, and found a set that I havent seen on a octavia before, so was tempted, they are advertised as vag fitment.. but on talking to the seller today he advised me they are ET20 but would fit no bother..

I dont want to take the risk without double checking, at the moment my vRS isnt lowered but that will be on the cards in the future too..

so does anyone know if ET20 is ok without spacers or anything ?

thanks

What's the width?

You just need to worry (not worry!) about the poke.

only info is this

They are 17x9 or 9.5 5x100

So im guessing the lower ET is like adding spacers pushing the wheels outwards ?

No et 20 will stick right out. Lower the et the more they stick out from the arch.

Double post.

Damn ****ty fone

These rims will stick out like 15mm more than std I think prob more due to width.

Bear in mond that an 8" wide rim with 225tyre and et 35 catches on the arch this will sit out even further again.

Mine are et30s go but with a stretched tyre

Josh got the tt ones et 26 or 27 ish again with stretched tyres

Et20 will be out even more

So unless u love the stretchie and start pulling a 205 40 or 45 on it ( stretched like fook ) i think u have big issues bud

cheers guys, just stopped me making a very expensive mistake, goes to show a seller willl say anything to get a sale..

:D well theyd fit lol

Its when the start going round the trouble starts "woka woka"

Id stay 8j et 35 if u want a easy life

Et30 max for abit of stretch 8 or 8.5 wide

Staggered try et35 8 front upto 9.5 rears but you'll be stretched at this point ;) mmmmm

But easy life 8j et35 and 225 tyres :)

I do want good looks, and don't mind a little stretch, but don't want to have anything drastic,

so i will aim at ET30/35

215/35 is nice on a 8 or 8.5

Yeah those are pretty damn wide! If you wanted to maintain the standard clearance from rim inner edge to strut with a 9" wide rim, you'd need an offset of 12.6mm (pushing the outer rim edge out by 50.8mm). Which would be 43.4mm on an ET20 (takes inner rim edge 7.4mm closer to strut so you might have a clearance problem there too).

Yes, spacers artificially reduce the offset. Spacers are nasty things so you want to avoid as much as possible!

You want these which have been properly refurbished and includes the correct tyres :D

I like them, but not the look im going for, they are quite common on vags now, the wheels I was looking at I had never seen on a vag, (probably because they dont suit it) but thats what drew me to them..

Lol cheers raf. Not after comission areya hehe

would i get away with ET60 wheels with 1 set of 30mm spacers and 1 set of 15 mm spacers. from earlier the 30mm would amke ET30 wheels so they should be fine, it was more the ones with 15mm spacers I was thinking about, I know on some cars you get away with different spacings front and rear..

I have a brand new set of 8x18 Revolution Millenium 2's for sale, still in the boxes if your interested.

Yeah et60 witg spacers would go

Mine are et50 with 20mm bolt on h&r pcd adaptors

Ending at et30 8x19s

Just make sure the hub size is correct 57.1 iirc

Et45 ( if i have dumb dumb thought that out )

Id watch that on the inside

:) is that what you were thinking

Et45 front

Et30 rear

Im not unknown to missreasd stuff

yeah that was the first intention if I buy them, but obviously dont want rub,

easy done mate

Et45 may bite your strut/coilover mate

I would say that the fronts could be spaced more than rears as they sit further into the arch than the rears i think.

As Lloyd says below ET38 you will have problems with the shock or coilover strut.

Hub size doesnt have to be a problem either as there are spacers out there that will take different sizes and custom ones can always be made.

I was afraid of that answer lol.. but as I said before good to clarify things before buying them

problem with that is, I change my mind quite frequently, my last car had 4 sets of alloys and even then I wasn't happy, so getting custom spacers made could be pouring money down the drain, I always try and buy wheels that aslong as looked after can sell for similar to what I paid for them, otherwise it becomes a very expensive hobby..
