Thank you very much guys for the support.

Does it mean i need to change both the radiator and the fan? Or i can use the existing fan with 1.9 radiator?

My 1.4 16v ran perfectly well with a standard 1.6 rad and fan.  The temperature gauge read "hotter" than the 1.6 but that is normal I believe.  It never overheated.

I would check your cooling system is working properly (airlocks, thermostat etc) before fitting a bigger radiator.

As for the shaking are all the engine mounts good? What did you use at the cambelt end? Can you rock the engine about by hand when its not running?

Thanks very much.

Another issue is after converting the car to use vw polo engine,  I am still using the SKODA FELICIA water/coolant reservoir. Any time the engine is hot, the coolant overflows through the reservoir lid thereby reducing the coolant level.

My question are-

1. Do i have to change the coolant reservoir to that of vw polo?

2. What is causing coolant overflow?

3. I have also realized my temperature level is mostly 90 when run the car for some minutes, is that normal?

@Keken

1) Possibly. Certainly the one you have isn't performing correctly.

2) Coolant overflow is normally caused by an over-heating engine or a weak pressure cap.

3) Yes, but by design VAG engines return 90C on the fascia when the actual temperature is between 70C and 105C.

Hello Ken

Please how do i determine what is actually causing the overheating engine. I am told head gasket can be one. How do i determine the exact cause? Else i will end up spending money.

For the weak pressure cap,  i can change the cap for the existing tank which is cheaper than buying the vw reservoir. What i need is to be sure of the exact cause and its solution.

I am back for a further clarification.  What i need to know is whether the pressure from skoda felicia is same as vw polo 1.4.

Second, can the water reservoir meant for skoda felicia be used for vw polo engine? This is because my skoda felicia now uses vw polo. Thnx guys
