help vrs octavia

Featured Replies

hi im new to this site im more a rs man.

ive got a 52 Octavia vrs in yellow and my question is mpg?????

how much more would it cost more to run than a Octavia diesel????

can you lpg a vrs does it work if you can and how many mpg would I get then,i love the car to bits but I think its going to break me,also how much would it cost to lpg it???

ps its done 97000 cheers paul

The answer is a fair bit! Do a search for MPG, it seems to have been covered to death. I get 27mpg, mostly round town work. Have seen 37-38 on the motorway. In winter it will be worse. 1.8T does LPG quite well. Again, search, it's been covered before. You've bought the wrong car if you wanted economy though!

Average LPG system cost is going to be between 12-1500 quid. You want it done properly with a quality system though. I've come from a background in dodgy cooker ring style evaporator systems on V8 Land Rovers, and can tell you, a bad LPG system is a nightmare. The payback would be within 18 months, less depending on mileage though.

thanks for the reply,i didn't buy it for mpg tbh,i had a l&c tdi estate sold it and bought the vrs as a stop gap,as I was waiting for my mk4 gttdi golf, sold the vrs to a mates sister and now ive got it back, the golf isn't blowing my frock up so to speak but is superb on fuel.i just love the vrs on looks etc not to bothered about power as ive got a 400 bhp sierra coasworth cheers paul ps just looking at ways to keep the skoda

Pics of the cossie please lol!

The vRS may be better off being sold then. You need to decide what you want from a car; if you want a daily, then the vRS is fun, but not very frugal. Maybe better to get the Golf a remap to shove out some extra horses. There's rarely poke without some offset, which in this case, is fuel economy :(

On Monday I did a 90 mile round trip and managed to get 46.2mpg out of mine, had a long 50 zone otherwise stuck at or near the speed limit at 70. I find the vrs drinks fuel on acceleration but sips the stuff when cruising. Hates town though usually get around 33mpg average

I might have to sell it then and keep the golf

Most Octy vrs will only average 30ish mpg.

Mine rarely gets that high as I have a heavy foot.

Agree with vrs-Steve we need pics of cossie.

Lucky if I get over 25 mph around town.

Never got more than 42 on motorway driving like aunt daisy.

This cars are not good on petrol, but coming from a scooby not drastic either.

As mentioned you should aim at around 30 MPG typically.

Post up pics of your cossie buddy:rolleyes:

Sent from my Galaxy S3.

i get 32 or 33 mpg as long term average

that prob 20% town, 30% B road, 50% A road driving, and this is driving fairly sensibly i.e. using boost when reqd, overtaking etc, but not ragging it everywhere i go. I also stick to speed limit.

Got mine converted, been keeping a track of the mileage since 20th March on fuelly, average 27.4mpg over 4250 miles at 11.5 ppm - thats running a stage 1 remap. Cost £1000 by pioneer autogas of Rochdale. Another 2 Months I will have re-couped the price of the conversion.
