My Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Well I have been around here for around a month so thought it was time to put up some pics.

I got the car around a month ago. Had a S-Max but the wife now drives that as we've just had twin boys, I decided I wanted something much more fun than her 12 plate Mazda 3 which I then got to drive. On the vRS I got quite a good deal on it, I viewed it within 2 hours of the dealer getting it and while viewing they had another 5 people wanting to come and see it so I knew it was a good one. Single owner from new and the service history was all there including the infamous water pump.

Once I got it home (Bishops Itchington to Southampton) the first job was to give it a good cleanup. It was a real family car and had not been cleaned in ages (the dealer had not even had a chance to). It was filthy inside

After a lot of work on wheels, exhaust, interior it was a lot better

Unfortunately after a few days the problems began. I knew the tyres didn't have much tred left but both fronts were loosing loads of air every day. Thankfully my neighbour is a mechanic and was able to slap on some sealant and it seemed to do the trick.....I then found I had another common problem of no washer on the rear wiper and some water appeared in the spare wheel well...yup the pipe had come undone.

Next I noticed I had fallen foul of the Compressor failure.....again my neighbour came to the rescue and thats also now all sorted.

Next up was a full service on it so I knew everything was perfect. Did the lot - oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, wipers, fuel filter, spark plugs and uprated bulbs.

Let the changes commence. First stop was the interior lights which I upgraded to LED ones which are not much better. Then onto vinyl wrapping the silver interior trim panels. I went for gloss black, not sure if I will keep it or will switch it for gloss carbon

I've also updated the Climatronic panel to the FL one as I think it looks much better.

As my tyres are on the limit and I only had the 17" Zeniths I decided it was the time to get a set of second hand 18" wheels with tyres.... These went on this morning now my new insurance is active

Car has had a few washes over the past month and managed to give some of it a bit of a polish and protected with some Gtechniq products

What next??

I'm wanting to upgrade the head unit and get bluetooth hands free. Not sure between the RNS-315 & Kenwood DNX520 at the moment. Will also put in my Speakers (Focal Utopia + Orion H2 Sub) and Audison amp

A few other thoughts are heated seats, MFSW, MaxiDot. Not sure how much will get done due to time and money taken by those two little boys

Great work mate. Best colour too :)

Hi, the car looks great. Those wheels look really good, almost zenith like. What make are they ?

Great job on the vinyl wrapping mate looks top notch. Car looks fantastic and those (Audi S3?) alloys look perfect.

Looks good. Would look even better lowered about an inch or so.

Very nice :)

Those wheels look great !

Very nice that pal:)

Hey Rob, shouldn't be surprised but can't believe how much you've done to it already, with new twins! Surprised it came with 17s, very unusual for a vRS to have the jumbo pack but not 18s. New wheels look great though.

What are those yellow tabs in the air vents?

Wheels are Genuine Audi ones, often used on S3 I think

Chris - Its my escape from the boys :D. It's one of the earlier vRS models so the 18s were an option at the time. Don't worry I won't be going as far as the Saxo but it does have a lot of playability :)

Sure, same vintage as mine, I got 18s but no jumbo pack (annoyingly), ended up retro-fitting the centre armrest myself.

Also, you need to update your gear knob insert now: http://www.superskoda.com/scripts/podrobnosti.php?IDZ=9943&admin=1&MS=1&SC=71d58935fa9ebd2d513d226c3a646e71 :)

Liking the gear knob insert but someone just said "you don't need one of those!"

Hmm She'll never know :)
