Help - Recovery/Repair Quote Needed...

Featured Replies

Ok so not my tractor which seems to be going from strength to strength...

...The brother-in-law has been exceedingly silly today and bought an Astra 1.6 mk4 - Which has turned out to be a bit of a Lemon.

Suspected blown head gasket and/or broken thermostat. We had to pull it over literally 10 miles from where it was bought, to call out the RAC who recommended to not take it further than the nearest garage (which was at 7:45pm tonight - the garage is closed). It's parked up there awaiting a quote from them.

So.

Is there anyone near the Stockport area who could give me/him a quote on how much it's gonna cost him to replace the 'stat, the head gasket, and I suspect the timing belt as it's a 1.6 and seemingly you'll not be able to get to the thermostat without removing/replacing the timing belt which seems a ridiculous design?

If not, does anyone have the means to transport it from Stockport to my house so I can at the very least do the work myself for him? The RAC were quoting crazy money to recover it to my house. Something about a 10 mile recovery, and then on a per-mile basis... And the brother-in-law quite frankly can't afford to spend crazy money.

Anyone?
