hello there vrs springs

Featured Replies

does any1 know if its a common fault on a octavia vrs for the rear springs to break , my car is just 5 years old under 60 thousand miles and never carry anything heavy in the boot ,havent hit any curbs or anything yet one spring has broken and the other needs replacing too , any comments welcome , cheers darrell

It happens. My first instance was when I had a 1974 VW Passat TS and next when I had a 2002 Skoda Octavia 4X4 Estate. Neither was ever overloaded nor mistreated in any way. And in both cases a single coil snapped at the bottom of a rear spring. I now make sure that the bottom coils of the springs are treated with Waxoyl to inhibit corrosion.
