Rear Window Wiper Problem

Featured Replies

A new problem has arisen with my car as of yesterday.

the rear window wiper seems to be going off by itself every now and then, i thought it was maybe just me being stupid at first and not switching off the stalk properly but no, its just constantly going off by itself.

the problem appears to be getting more frequent as i drove it again today and now its just constantly wiping

and helps would be great

car is 04 plate

thanks

I had a problem much the same a few years ago on a vauxhall astra, on a hot day rear wiper was always on, traced fault to wiper relay, opened it up and bent the metal tag with contact on it and hey presto good as new

I've got a spare rear wiper motor if it turns out to be that, just let me know

it will be washer fluid inside the wiper motor. 3 options

1 replace

2 clean out and grease up the gears (did this to mine...works for a while...)

3 get a 25mm rubber gromit from Halfords and whip out the whole thing (this is what I will be doing next!)

I would suggest you do something soon as mine eventually set off the front wipe continuously until I unplugged the rear electrical connector.

The chances are it is what tarmacsurfer said above, assuming this is a hatch.

thanks everyone. is the wiper motor easy enough to take out?

Very easy, however getting the tailgate plastic back on can be a right fiddle as you have to do it sat in the boot.

an extra pair of hands is certainly handy when it comes to refitting the tailgate plastic.
