Idle control valve

Featured Replies

Hi all,I'm new to this forum stuff. My wife drive's a 2000 Fabia and i'm trying to locate the idle control valve, which needs a good clean.Would anybody have any pics where it is located pls.

Thanks Phil.

It won't have a seperate idle control valve, the throttle body itself acts as the idle valve, internally they have a stepper motor which acts against a spring loaded lever which forces the throttle plate open a tiny amount... However this only works upto a certain limit before the idle speed can no longer be regulated properly. If the throttle plate or the surrounding area gets all caked up with sludge or fuel grime it doesn't allow enough air through at idle to keep the idle speed stable, so in most cases all that is required is to give the throttle body a good clean with some carb cleaner.

the location of the throttle body varies depending on engine type/code. Hope this helps.
