Had a stroke last week whilst driving :( ditched the car (09 vrs) but now she wont start

Featured Replies

I had a stroke thursday last week whilst driving. Managed to pull over and get out. I'm OK now. A friend went to move the car for me a few days later but it wouldn't start. I think I may have left the door open and just staggered off lol it's all a bit of a blur if I'm honest. I've just gone to the car now to see if I could get her to start (not to drive as I've been informed I cant drive for a month). I'm wondering if the immobiliser has kicked in as the central locking unlock button on the key isn't unlocking the car. Putting the key in the door works fine but when I try and start the car it turns over but just doesn't start. Any ideas guys and girls?? I checked the manual to see if the immobiliser has a warning light but cant find anything in there about an immobiliser warning light.

Thanks in advance :)

You mean that you stopped the car, not that you dropped it into a drainage ditch?

Just that in the latter case the engine kill sensor might have gone off and need resetting.

It's not the immo, as the car would start and run for 3 seconds before stopping. You would also get a warning light (key under a car).

My guess is you have a flat battery - try turning on the headlights. Does it crank?

I think you just need a jump start. Also read up on how to re-synchronise the key if it has been pressed too many times away from the car.

Good luck with the doctors. My sister (who is also a Sister at the local hospital) prescribes anti-coagulants and further strokes are largely preventable if you know you're at risk. You really don't want a proper, permanent, debilitating stroke; we've had a couple of those in the family (my grandmother in the 1980s and my mother-in-law last year).

Chin up mate.. Sorry can't help with the car fault, but feel for you about the stroke. Had my own business, nice little earner, 9 years ago had brain haemorrhage, similar symptoms to a stroke. Luckily it was in the middle of the night, the expert told me I would never work again. Volunteered to surrender my licence for 12 months. After 2 years was really down in the dumps and just had to get a job. Found a little job still working spanners. Every cloud has a silver lining. At least I got my health back plus a few extra stones. Advise get someone to keep an eye on your blood pressure. Best of luck.

thanks everyone for you advice, as soon as I can I'm gonna get a couple of mates together to see if we can jump start her. I'll let you know how I get on.
