It is the bit that slides up and down with the handbrake inside the centre console. I need to order a new one as mine has snapped as you can see. Better still anyone know the part number?

My dealer is not the best and "the bit which slides up and down in the centre console" probably won't help!!

Incidentally this is the first time I've had the console off. Hope it is as easy going back on he says dubiously!!

This looks like the whole trim module (?) here: http://www.skodaparts.com/product/octavia-handbrake-trim-2004-2011-31612 cheap as chutney.

Indeed I took the gaitor out of that plastic holder thinking they would be separate parts. I thought that bit would have been a lot dearer. Thanks again.

Nah, piece of p1ss to dismantle if you're any good with a screwdriver and a bit of common sense. Had mine out, swapped it round and back in again in under half an hour.

Good my part is coming on Thurs so will test your theory then!!
