iPad battery longevity

'daiking'

How do you ascertain the condition of the battery? It's a v2 from June-ish 2011, and feels like its starting to lose charge very quickly. 10% in 20 mins not an hour browsing at times, sometimes almost normal consumption.

Not yet updated to iOS 6 which is something I've been meaning to do. Could be attributable, new apps and iOS 5 clashing.

Apple UK charge £85 (+ £7.44 shipping and postage if applicable) for battery replacement if you want to go that route.

Thanks,

Its ok on usage/calibration as far as i know. Previous OS is a possible software issue now but i was looking for something to give a clearer battery diagnostic before resorting to getting the battery changed.

You can also try killing apps after you have run them rather than letting everything run in the background. Some apps try to find you all the time (triangle in the menu bar) and others will be checking for push notifications every so often.

Maybe check some settings to see what you have allowed to check for things in the background.

I am guessing you have done a 'hard reset' by pressing home and power buttons together until the apple logo comes on screen.

Sometimes it is needed to clear all the stuff in its memory. I find it is better than the iPhone, and the latest iPhone rarely suffers like the earlier ones/OS did.
