Hi all, just bought a 2nd hand forge split r, I've put it on with the blanking plate on, and it doesn't sound any different. On my previous Octavia Vrs, which was remapped, the forge split r with the blanking plate on, made a flutter sound. My current Octavia vrs is standard. Could this be the reason there is no sound?

Also, which way is the correct way to put in a forge split r ??

If your not making the right boost it may be a little quiet, I'm not familiar with the Split-r DV though

I see, well I do have a boost leak, pipe below Y breather has come apart, so this could contribute?

If you've blocked off the trumpet end with the blanking plate then it won't sound any different as its doing the same thing as a standard dump valve and just recirculating the "dumped" air back into the intake system.

I see, so how come it fluttered on my old Octavia vrs which was remapped?? My brother also has a split r on his a4 1.8t, and that flutters too :-/

Did you have an induction kit on your old one or do you have one on your new one ?

  • Author

No I didn't, no induction kit on either..

Does the flutter make it fly faster?

It actually does -_-

????

When I had a gfb hybrid valve(similar to split r) it fluttered but that was because I put it on wrong!

It fluttered on your old car as A) your old car ran more boost and B) the dv wasn't adjusted correctly, so instead of dumping (recircing) the air it was stalling the turbo which sounds great, but doesn't do the turbo any favours.

Ohhhh okaayyyy!!!!lol Thanks for the reply and info! Remap next week, so i'll adjust it properly and see how it is! I was worried I brought a damaged split r :-(

I have 1 on my 1.8t mk4 golf. It wos cheap so i stuck it on. It has the trumpet on it and is noisey. Sounds like darth vader breathing. Lol.

I've seen split r's on the bay for £40 delivered.

I've got one on mine, if it flutters the setting is too soft. You have to click it 21 times to the right I think it is for a mapped car. They do make a lot of noise. £40 for a Forge Split-R valve??? They normally got for £75-£85 ish a new one is over £160 now. Make sure it's the real deal and not a cheap chinese copy as you'll be playing Russian roulette with your motor, lol.

I had mine set to 16 clicks standard. After the Revo map I now have it at 27 clicks. 25 clicks was still too loose and was clicking at me while driving. I have it blanked now too.

As said fluttering is bad u don't want that.

The correct way round is the bottom part of the valve pointing to the left with the side pointing down(the reverse of the standard valve). I can take a pic if u need me too.

Thanks for the replies guys :-) Oh I see, so with the blanking plate on your remapped vrs, there is no sound?

I bought my split r from eBay for £53 delivered, I'm sure it's genuine as its exactly like my brothers split r.

Yes please, can you upload a pic? My split r is put on, the same way as the standard dump valve..

I'll get a pic for you tomorrow. But basically u have it on the wrong way.

With the blanking cap on you don't get the dump psssh noise, it doesn't make a difference if it's mapped or not, it just needs tightened after a map.
