  • Driven about 30 miles in the new VRS now and it feels great. Obvious new car tightness, but engine and gear change all felt great. The Eibach springs rode very well and there was noticeably less bod

  • Good grief, I gave mine it's first hard accelerate overtaking a car today... Nearly hit the back of the car in front it shot forward so quickly! I think I'm gonna love this car....

  • Loving this Colour combo! Showed the wife these pics to see if I could persuade her to get a new one but she wasn't having it lol!

Steel grey so suits the car; about the only colour that looks fantastic with the standard finish wheels too. New steering wheel and gearshift lever is really nice as well. Agree RE badges; think the old rear badging was better overall

So did you take the Skoda and Fabia badges off the back yourself?

Yeah. Just used some string to get behind them and pull. Then used polish and wax to get all the sticky stuff off after I had picked it off

By far the best body/wheel colour combo for the VRS.

Thanks, I may consider doing this to mine. There does look to be a lot of badges on the back as standard!!

The car feels a lot more composed on the eibach springs. Feels better on the motorway too. Haven't pushed the car too much yet but engine seems very responsive and I got 37mpg easily mixed driving (with some full throttle bursts in 7th). Oil temp got quite high though (98 degrees), but possibly due to those full throttle bursts?

Oh and does anyone know what the blue bulb in the front light cluster does??

Oh and does anyone know what the blue bulb in the front light cluster does??

Sits there looking pretty. :giggle:

The blue bulb does nothing on the vRS.

The sidelights are the Combined unit with the DRL's, so that bulb holder was surplus to requirements.

You asked about Running in in the other thread.

The Brakes, Bearings etc are tight, so that makes the engine/drivetrain work harder.

IMO its worth letting the Drivetrain etc loosen off and let the engine Run in as well.

Keep the oil temp down but taking things easier for a few hundred miles.

Meh, if it's not over 100C youre not driving it hard enough ;) *runs

Thumbwheel controls on my steering wheel too. They are very intuitive I find.

Over 100*oC oil temp when its just about a free running and revving engine and not about the brake pads touching the discs just a little and generating friction & heat,

and starting to boil your brake fluid while not even touching your brakes is fair enough.

Always interesting to see just how hot the Centre of wheels feel on a new car after some enthusiastic running.

All kinds of weird and wonderful smells when I park up. Not to mention the pings and rings of metal parts. Love it!

Thats a great colour combination. Is that a new colour? Ive not seen one like it before.

New as of 2012 iirc

Yeah I think it became available in the second half of 2012. Really glad it did, love the colour!

Like the colour, and really like the improved steering wheel. Not sure about the gear shift. Enjoy your new wheels....

Im going to throw it out there that that is by fair the best colour available. If in some crazy scenario that i bought another vRS, that would be the colour i would choose. It makes it look more grown up and classy than the other colours IMO.

Yeh thats what i mean ;) What did you pay for them fitted?

Mine were £360 fitted.

Its over the odds probably, but the eibachs are quite expensive for some reason. Was less hassle for me getting them done at the dealer before I collected the car though.

My salesman is back on thursaday, have e-mailed to give me a quote. For £360 i will get it done.

Driven about 30 miles in the new VRS now and it feels great. Obvious new car tightness, but engine and gear change all felt great. The Eibach springs rode very well and there was noticeably less body roll and the whole car felt more controlled. They weren't as hard as I thought they were going to be either. The springs also help reduce the pitching of the car under breaking, which I noticed a lot in the old VRS. A few comments:

  • New steering wheel looks a lot better, and paddles feel better. The volume control wheel is a nicer design too.
  • Eibach springs enhance the looks a lot and give the car more control.
  • Cabin feels the same quality, except for grab handles which the plastic feels worse on (might be imagining this!).
  • Indicator stalks seem different. There is a definite 'click' when flashing for instance.
  • Red interior is a lot nicer than the grey imo, and I love having an arm rest now.
  • There were too many badges on the back, so I took some off!
  • Engine tone sounded a bit different. When I was off the accelerator I noticed a slight whistling noise, but again I could be imagining this as a difference.
  • I tried to do the Jabo running in (full throttle in higher gears) for some of the way home. Oil temperature got up to 95 degrees but settles back down to 88-90 degrees when I wasn't full throttling it.
  • The kick down peddle seems harder to press and you can comfortable maintain maximum throttle without activating it.
  • New VRS badge has a grey V (not colour coded, it is grey on all of them).
  • Annoying beep from parking sensors (when first put into reverse) now gone as the new one hasnt got them!
  • I didn't get any oil in the boot from the dealer!

Obviously I need to drive it more to make any more conclusions, but those are my first thoughts. Now some pictures:8746842257_21e674e243_z.jpg

Congratulations on your new motor ,hope you enjoy! It's gained a few admirers

Any chance you could post some more photos, in a different setting so we can see the colour in another light?

Also, do the eibach springs invalidate the warranty? Do you have them fitted at your own risk?

Cheers

Bingo

I will see if I can get some more photos today. My dealer said that warranty isn't affected by the springs as they are a dealer fit option.

That's great, will help me decide......
