flash car wash... great!

Featured Replies

anyone got one of them flash car wash things?? there great!! really recomend them, easy to use and keeps your car clean and shiny for ages. go buy one!:thumbup:

yep, it works very well. Very good if you want to quickly wash it with very little effort.

But what about the alloys? surely it cant do a good job on them too... Still looking for an easy option...

you will still need to use alittle elbow grease. Best thing to do is clean them and then protect them with an alloy brake dust barrier/protection. Might be hard work to start of with but it will make cleaning later easier

How does this flash thing work. I cannot get it to work properly.

1st I rinse, then select the soap, then I usually end up using a sponge to go over the car whilst applying more soap before rinsing once more. Then the best bit, I really like the autodry feature. The car dries without any water marks, saves using a chamois leather.

Sounds like your doing it right to me

A mate said it stripped all the polish of his car when he used it, binned it afterwards.

dad has one, can was a car in about 10 mins between 2 of you, one spray and the other sponge it can be done very quickly and easily.

best to wax after though

Used it once and it put a horrible film over the glass on the car and stripped all the wax off....it was clean but then I had to polish it again ....so it's stuck on the shelf ...I wont be using it again:thumbdwn:

  • 9 months later...

i'm going to halfords soon to get me one

let you know how i get on

Also hell of a job to use it when you have a hosepipe ban

Nope

Some pics of my old Fabia vRS after a 20 min flash car wash session, I only waxed it once in 12 months of owning it, don't think it's come out to bad. I use the ol' flash once a week. These where taken after it had dried, about 25 mins after washing it, you can see the driveway is still wet, but he car has dried.

I've heard enough scare stories to put me off this. Shall stick to soapy sponge wash, couple of buckets to rinse, then leathering off. :)

Well I will be happily blasting mine all over the new octy tomorrow, use it on the bike, conservatory, porch, cars ... it's great. I waxed the furby once with nxt tech wax the week I bought it in 2005, and never bothered again.

will stick some pix up after doing the octy. Maybe some people are having bad results because of water softness / hardness? I must have had mine for nearly 18 months now I reckon and would not be without it.

You can fill the shampoo resevoir with any type of car shampoo and it works, I have used Flash, Autogym, Meguirs, Mer advanced and they have all been the same with regards to results imho.

They work great IMO - I've never noticed it stripping wax off etc.... If nothing else just use it for the Auto dry feature alone

Its very good for 2 things:

1. It TOTALLY strips ALL the wax off your car. This is fine if you want it to (After winter to re wax etc..)

2. Very good ioniser of water. You just dont need to 'leather' it off after a rinse with the 'autodry' function

TO SUM UP:

Get it if you are not bothered about a wax protection on your car

or

As a wax stripper prior to a rewax

or

Purely for the 'Auto Dry'

Look at your sponge afterwards. Its loaded with dirty wax from your car. This is how it makes water 'sheet' on your bodywork

im with fluffmeister, my car looked just as good as his after its first flash car wash on monday

very impressed with it

we have one its great was brilliant on my blue fabia, doesnt matter what we use on silver octy it always looks clean... not tried it on golf yet due to hose ban
