Weird. I've had two comforts with disc brakes (including the mongrel which is a comfort TDI ultimately), but they were turbo diesels. Perhaps it is more to do with engine choice, so all the 1.4 MPI / 1.9 SDI get rear drums?

The daughter's is a 1.4 tdi so I suspect they throw on anything whatever's to hand on the lower specs unless the car is ordered with a particular spec. I think you could actually have ordered a classic with rear discs if you wanted it.

Will be discs all round. Only classic came with rear drums. Even comfort trim had the stock 232mm rear disc setup.

All Mk1 Fabia's came with drums except (to my knowledge) the PD100, vRS, 16v (100bhp) and 2.0 which had 232mm rear discs

Was ABS optional on some trim levels? I imagine you can't have ABS on a drum brake.

Re: abs flow fault, check the fusebox on top of the battery for loose or corroded fuses or terminals..

ABS definately optional on classic. I have rear drums and ABS but I would expect it only has sensors on the front.

Yup - a google search brought me back to this forum and to a thread from 2009 ish where this was described. I shall see if the fault has come back when I take official possession tomorrow evening. First job though is a tardis soaking, and full clay. See what that paint is like!

Just had a sudden thought that this car is the perfect donor for a 1.8T quattro project, but that will have to wait for another day.....
