I must say - I like it a lot!!! This has just gone straight to the top of the "mods to do" list. Simple, cheap and oh so effective...

I wonder what bulbs and holders to use? Hmmm. :itchchin:

I'd also like to add red puddle lights to the back doors (like the fronts) and also add light to the rear headlining somewhere. Maybe get a plan together and attack it sometime in the near future.

A top mod though Rich! Nice to see people trying new things.

As far as bulb holders go... anything will do really... on the rear ones iv just soldered about three inches of wire to the bulb, taped it up then just attached a little wire connector at the end. After all the bilbs are hidden so they cant be see so it doesnt need to look fantastic.

I was going to add some headlining lights at the rear, but decided not to as i didnt want to actually change the car.... my footwell mod can be completly removed from the car in about 10mins without a trace it was ever there.

I dont have puddle lights at the front.... let alone back :( !!

Looks nice :)

hehehe I saw this thread when you first did this, and it inspired me to do a simular thing, I sharnt say what though ;)

Excellent work :) They look really good :) wow

my fabia isn't as posh as your octavia!

This is going to sound weird, but what lights are you using and where are they mounted. I know they are just stuck on but stuck to what? Oh and what size speaker cable and how are they wired? Round in a loop?

As mentioned before iv used two 12v halogen bulbs in front footwell (reflector ones found in low voltage house lighting) and they just squeeze into the plastic in the back corner of the footwells at front... just a trial and error basis till they dont move!

Under the seat for rear iv used the bulbs that are used as the car sidelights (wedge type) and just secured them to the cross bar of the seat out of site with insulating tape.

The main power feed comes from the roof interior light (as shown on page one) and pops out in drivers footwell.... here iv attached a wire connector (block type) and an inline fuse to be safe then from here i have added 4 wires (one to each bulb) making it a parallel circuit so as to keep bulbs bright, save power and if bulb goes the others still light.

Think the speaker cable was 1.5mm (not the thinest anyway). Then its just a trick of hiding the wire.... to get to the seats i ran cable under the plastic of the centre consol then let it pop out under seats.

Real Cool!!!

I wonder what these footwell light would look with Blue LED....

Fabia 12v> those reflector halogen bulbs get pretty HOT on the back side. If I were you I would at least get an appropriate housing.

It looks well posh now, though.

I definitely need to borrow your idea.

Might post piccies one day... who knows

iv put tin foil around them... never have lights on long enough to melt anything... but i know where i can lay may hands on some heatproof tape so will be using that on surrounding areas.

it would look great... but u will lose the dimming out effect you currently have on the interior lighting.

excellent work !!

Looks very good

I'll definately have to add footwell lighting if my new motor doesn't have it already. Can't help thinking that using household LV halogen lamps is asking for a car fire though due to their temperature and the potential massive overloading of the circuit feeding the cars interior lamp.

I'd stick with using LED's or 5w car lamps. I would have thought the led lamps would still dim as the voltage falls off. I'll have to do an experiment on that.

On the subject of LED's, the Golf MkV has 2 high power red leds in the front courtesy light enclosure which discretly illuminate the cabin when the headlights are turned on 'submarine style'. Nice touch I thought.

So does the Superb :)
