Footwell Lighting (NSF 56K)

Featured Replies

Well continuing on from an earlier thread.... i've fitted the footwell lights i was on about... heres how:

Take screws out marked:

The wiring the the interior light runs to the left of the car but i needed to run wiring down left side (personal preference) so i fed an extra cable in headlining... just grabbed it where it met doorsill and ran down A-Piller:

Next i wired it to the central light of the three so it was switchable with interior light and also comes on with door open:

Here is where cable ran behind glovebox:

Here is where cable popped out in footwell:

Fitted a 12v bulb into any old bulb holder and........

Just need to run a loop to passenger side now, easy peasy and all removable in couple of mins.

Look forward to seeing that, the rear does lack in the lighting department

Well if an Octy 2 can have it (centre rear), and i like it in my dads car (octy 1 4X4 Elegance - Under Grab handles) thought id have a go at fitting it, only difference is i'll wire it so they come on with door open, not so you press them turn them on.

Heres what i'll use and where I want them:

And i want to fit these in these two areas:

Mine are under the grab handles. Must see if I can wire mine in to come on when I open the doors.

It is possible... looked at doing it on my dads Octy but he has sunroof so made wiring difficult to feed under headlining.... but basically wire them onto your main interior light so they come on with it and you press them to switch them off, if you get my jist.

Thats mega neat. Will definately keep that in mind for something to do on a rainy day.

Nice one!

Looks very nice man

All footwell lights now in.... pics will be up tomorrow, and i'll do a diagram for how to wire it all in.

So when you open the door the lights automatically come off and go off again when you close the door, if so...WOW :D

What bulbs and bulb holders did you use? And what cabling please? Could be a good mod for me to do.

Right in the front i've used 12v Halogen (10w) bulbs from some low voltage interior lights at home we had and the connectors that came with them.

Rear ones are the 5w exterior wedge sidelight bulbs and i soldered wire to the two metal conectors.

All cabling is speaker wire.

Hey.....Fabia 12v Spot on........ Excellent :orb_cool: :orb_cool: :orb_clap: :orb_clap:

WOOOOWEEE thats brilliant rich :D well done :)
