bad radio reception

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have read all the threads about this & I think it goes a bit deeper. the radio shows the ant is on but with poor signal. but what I did find was that if I turned the engine off, after about 10 seconds all the hissing & crackling stops & the radio is perfect. I take it this means I have a problem with the interference coming from my electrics somewhere. any ideas please.

All the best Gerry. :wall:

Maybe check for corrosion around the antenna fitment

Probably the antenna and/or amplifier. I had an 06 Octavia that lost radio reception very suddenly in exactly the way you describe. Antenna and amplifier were replaced under warranty and it was back to new.

My Octavia Estate radion (2005) was perfect until I had a tow bar and associated electrics fitted.

The installation all happened at the rear - nothing was touched near the radio.

Reception varies as I drive around - so it sounds like an antenna problem - but the garage says it's ok

Anyone else have this problem AND solved it?
