Spare Oil (with new Yeti)

Featured Replies

Castrol 1 ltr in a plastic zipped case.

+1 here for a Velcro bag with 1 litre of castrol oil in 62 plate superb 1.6 tdi from Henrys Glasgow

We got Castrol oil with ours - in a fabric bag.

I have this vision of it literally coming in a bag, sloshing around the boot.

  • I got lots of free oil with mine In the engine gearbox air con and a few other places WHAT no beer in the corner MARTIN

  • We've bought 2 new Yetis and 2 new Citigos over the last 3 years......... Absolutely NOTHING. :wonder:

No free oil in mine when I picked it up (other than in the sump)....

and thats been paid for

Picked up the Yeti on Saturday 25th May, and did not receive free oil until I mentioned it to the salesman. I think he implied this was not normally provided now, but it was quickly produced when mentioned.

My wife and I have had four new Skodas (Octavia Scout, Citigo and two Yetis) from MSB at Darlington over the past five years and the free oil has come with each of them (I only ever used a tiny drop in the Octy).

Do you work at a Skoda dealership?

No - why?

Not with the Yeti but the last two VW's both came with it as did a Seat (which left pretty quickly).

To be honest it didn't use hardly a drop prior to service so i've not missed it but it was something i noted as not there.

This is also the first of the "newer" VW diesel engines i've had. The others were all PD types so i assumed, possibly incorrectly, that it didn't come with this engine type.

Mind you the Passat and Touran both had a 1,000 mile oil change as per the destructions free of charge where as this one didn't require it?

I've still got about a third of the bottle left in the boot of Dewi, even after 65k miles.

Got a bottle of oil in the zip bag in the boot of mine last year and pointed out by the sales bod.. even as a used showroom car. Nothing when I got my last Seat in 2010.

Yes, mine had the oil inside the mock leather zipped bag. I found it beneath the false floor velcroed to the sides, so far I have not had to use any of it

Asked my dealer why I didn't get oil and response was "Skoda use to put in a litre of oil from the factory its something that they have recently stopped unfortunately"

Well, I got some with mine when I collected it three weeks ago......

no, nothing with mine back in April 2010. Mind you, when I went to pick it up they'd also removed the spare wheel & high floor that the car originally had whilst in the showroom - presumably they'd swapped it into another car. I initially refused to take the car until all the kit was all put back - which they did a few days later but I didn't know about the oil! On the other hand, they left the VAG tyre pump in place as an apology for the inconvenience!

Oil in the nice bag (with gloves and funnel) came with mine (Oct 12) but no such things with our 2 Passats, 2 Tourans and 1 A3 over the past 4 years or so.

It would be interesting to know if all Skoda models should have the oil in the bag. If so and the dealer removes them all it would be a fair cost saving on oil throughout the year for them by using them in someone's service oil change

My 2010 Yeti came with just the oil and 2013 version was oil in a bag. (yes it was inside a bottle inside a bag) :giggle:

1 ltr of Castrol SLX oil with the first Yeti in a plastic reseal bag (food/freezer type), none with the second or the previous 2010 Fabia II but the Monte had a litre of Edge in a zip case, you can Velcro to the boot carpet covers.

No oil with ours from Cambridge Vindis. Boo.

Was the dealer in Edinburgh?

Well, mine came from Cambridge Vindis very recently, and I got the oil. Which salesman did you have? Mine was called Gary, and the oil was the first thing he showed me on handover....

Was the dealer in Edinburgh?

No, York.

Does anybody here work at a Skoda dealer ? If so, can they confirm whether the oil is/was supplied by Skoda or the dealer ?

I work on all the vag car range, that come off the port of Grimsby, which in turn come from the factory. Some of these cars have oil, some do not. I assume depending where they are made. This is before a dealership sees them. I hope that answers your question.....

There was a litre bottle in a zip bag when I collected my car from Alex Lawrie last year and then when it was in for service last week, besides the oil change, they left me another litre in a bag - nice!

haven't used the first one yet so son can have the new one in his A4.
