Bora 1.9tdi 130bhp tiptronic highline spec?

Featured Replies

Need some advice guys.

Just seen a 2001 51 bora 1.9tdi 130bhp tiptronic with 138k.

It's highline spec and has heated seats, cruise and multi function steering.

Also has full service history including timing belt change and all previous mot certificates.

Guy wants £1300 for it I originally wanted a manual but I'm considering the change for a year probably won't do more than 20k in it.

Is it worth me buying it if all is ok such as gearshift, turbo ect?

Personally would not buy a turbo car that old.

Would go for a Mondeo which you could get newer and with much less worries of things going wrong.

Have had the turbo go on a PD130 at half that mileage and it cost around that value to fix and therefore you would basically just have to through away the car ie sell it for parts/scrap.

The US buyers follow this premise being new or old. Do not buy something that you are going to be responsible for repairs and where those repairs would be a substantial part or equal to the value of the car.

Seems fine. Nothing wrong with that mileage. It's not highline though. They didn't come out til 2004

Just make sure you run on decent diesel like shell to keep the carbon down.

Engine is bullet proof, dunno owt about that gearbox though, if it was a manual I'd say get it as they are generally ok with that milage but that gearbox would worry me

Just update. When to view car. And what a bag of **** it was. Vcds showed faults in ecu and gearbox although there probably linked. Car was massively underpowered linked to engine faults I think so walked away. So back to searching again. Still would like a bora 1.9tdi 130bhp but in manual form and working lol

I've just sold one ;)

Highline 130, 6 speed manual with 107k on clock for 3k

I had a Bora Sport pd 150 from new in 03 for 3 years.

It was a great car; one of my all time faves ! sadly for some bizarre reason I chose a gold colour and regretted it from day one !

Good luck with your search.

So what you guys think

Looks ok, I was told when I was thinking of buying a 150td that the turbos are a weak point on them. Dunno how true it is tho

Sorry Donovan, away from t'net for a few days & you have probably moved on this particular car now...?...not standard wheels though .

not standard wheels but very sought after, very rare longbeach option wheels. Something I spent about 4 years looking for when I had one and gave up :(

I've never seen a Bora with factory fit xenon's and headlight washers before.

A rare car indeed.

So do you think car is worth the £2300?

Also seen a newer bora 1.9tdi 55plate highline. Guy wants 2k for it says service history and mot show 220k however he's had a new engine fitted which has 100k on. I asked if there's receipt and he said there's a hand written one with the guy he bought engine off signature.

I'm thinking car probably been clocked with same 200+K miles.

Which would you go for?

Saying that if engine has been changed then I'm guessing the 6 digit engine number would be different to that of the v5 or hpi

Apparently Cam cover was changed over. Sounds to good to be true and definitely dodgy. Think I'm going to go view the high spec 150bhp 2002 bora.

I'd go with the one above on autotrader

That's the one I'm going to go and look at either tomorrow or Saturday

This is the one I think is dodgy with the supposedly engine replacement with no proof. And service history showing first engine had over 200k on but clocks have been adjusted for the replacement engine which has 100k apparently. Lol

Ebay item number: 321138921272

Out the two I'd go for the auto trader one, mileage is reasonable, history & tidy specification. Unless I know its history (via a forum/friend etc) I'd not go near a modified car personally.
