DSG OIL CHANGE AT 8 YEAR SERVICE

Featured Replies

Just had my 8 year service (64745mls) on my 2005 octavia 1.9 TDI dsg. (cambelt changed etc.) When I collected the car I noticed that the dsg oil and filter hadn't been changed, although my service schedule states change every 40k or every 4 years. When I queried this I was told that a service checklist is printed and only the items on the list are replaced. After further discussion the (Skoda Main Dealer) garage contacted Skoda Tech.who confirmed that the dsg gearbox oil is only changed at 40k or 4yrs and unless it is on the checklist it didn't need replacing. I was told by the service dep't manager that if I really wanted it replaced he would do it for a discounted price of about £125. Having just paid £637 for the service ,mot etc. I declined. The moral is - if you are booking your car in for a service check exactly what work is being carried out. I thought for £637 that the gearbox oil change was included. looking at the checklist it doesn't even mention checking the oil level.

No additional items are included, gearbox oil, haldex oil, brake fluid are all extra. They are added to the service sheet when it is created from ELSA.

I have this Email from Skoda Customer Service:

Dear Mr

Thank you for your email dated 8 June 2010 regarding your query about DSG

oil/filter change.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in response.

Having consulted Technical I can confirm that this should be changed every

40,000 miles. There is no time limit for this service

operation.

Thank you for contacting Skoda Customer Services

Kind Regards

Which is exactly what I thought it was, 40k and no time interval.

In other words, your not due a DSG oil change for another 15,000 miles.
