Fabia VRS - the new Saxo?

Featured Replies

Really hope it's not going to become a ****-mobile! It shouldn't really, the exhaust is too quiet. If you ever speak to ****s amongst all the f-words, boasts about their accumalation of ASBO's and mono-syillabic grunts you often hear them say "Diesel is ****" (not soot!), so unless they bring out a petrol VRS we should be ok....

and that petrol version will be the 1.8 wrv version!!!! like they could afford that!!!! :D

Bit off topic but people keep mentioning old people.....don't forget who it is who normally drives the best sports cars too.Normally someones grandfather.

Lost count of the amount of old codgers in porsches or squeezing themselves into an MX5.Not to mention the horror of the beautiful blond woman in the mercedes convertible. On closer inspection she is clearly nearly 70 with leather sunbed skin

For as long as skoda holds some stigma for the little ones its safe.I was going to do a poll on this for how much longer the stigma will last.2/3 years has been mentioned. Not a bad estimate :)

Suppose I'm middle aged now and shouldn't be driving bespoilered cars really

Indeed, i followed an old chap driving a Carerra 4 very slowly this morning!

Personally i can't see the Fabia Vrs becoming a ch-av car, its too expensive second hand, it looks far too sensible, its a Skoda and its Diesel.

Thats not even mentioning the fact you can't (shouldnt) fit an induction cone and the biggest wheels that fit are only 17".

And its a 5-door

Thank god :)

I must be the only person on here that sill gets excited at seeing another fabia vRS. I may see only 1 a month (not including the one at malborough dealership on the way home.)

join the club mate!! had mine 6 months now, and very rarely see another furby vrs on the road.... not conplaining though, the less there is the more unique mine is in my area and its great!!:thumbup:

I'd have thought the equivalent offering from our Spanish sister company would be a more likely candidate (which *is* available in petrol)

Spot on I reckon- ***** aren't bothered about build quality, fuel economy or real world performance (the Fabia's strengths when compared to other small cars)

They want a big exhaust, massive wheels and (if they can get mummy to pay for their insurance) a 0-60 that they can brag about to their mates.

Sad as it may be, a diesel Skoda wont cut it in McD's car park as most of them aren't informed enough to know how good a car it is.

They're definitely getting more popular, and because of that you will get one or two driven by *****, but I don't think they're becoming a **** car.

Having said that, predicted deprieciation is shocking according to 'what car' so maybe in a few years we'll see them falling into the hands of 'undesireables' :(

they do tend to get done up more. ;)

trouble is they are already off the mark on year one. so TBH I wouldn't be worried by "whatcar's" useless predictions

It's all dictated by what people will actually be willing to pay for them, not how much the books say it's worth... :D

Rob.

They've been doing really well IMHO.

What Car also say that it's a 3 * car - every other publication in the whole world really like it!

Absolutely true.Thats why I don't think I will get anything like book on my octy rs if autotrader is anything to go by :o

As for fabias depreciation,£1k off list for used year old car doesn't suggest plummeting values though the supply/demand is improving.

5 doors does seem to put a lot of younger people off.Presume it smacks of 'family man' as opposed to 'young burberry sex god who needs a booster cushion' :)

What car should be called What Ford IMHO.

Mike.... dunno where your driving but I regularly see about 12 different vRSs around the area..... still yet to spot you when i'm in my own car lol.

General driving: Kew/Richmond/Ealing/hounslow - I may see one in a bluemoon

For a blast: Windsor/Boxhill/blackbushe area I've only ever seen one.

Also crewe and local area I see a few more so than down south.

As for spotting me, I'm sure you will at sometime

Very rarely see any Fabia vRS', maybe one or 2 a month at most.... so i doubt its the new saxo....

Hardley any Fabia vRS round these parts that I spot, and I do get excited when I see one (quite sad as SWMBO keeps telling me)

What Car? say that the vRS is worth 38% of it's starting value after 3 years.

Roughly 4.5K - try and find a 53 plate one at that price! I think trade glasses guide pitches it at around 7K

I don't see all that many Saxos round my way...particularly VTR/VTS models. However, those that I do see usually seem to be driven by ch4vs...and I think this is more the point of the "Fabia vRS - the new Saxo" theorem rather than how common they are...

Rob.

See fabias all the time, especially estates, but then again I guess I've got a keen eye for them :D

As for becoming the new saxo, it just doesn't really fit the bill. Can't really add to the discussion but to just agree with most of whats been said with regards to it being not quite right.

I don't get this depreciation thing. According to last weeks Auto Express the Fabia Vrs is only beaten by the Mini. It even beats the Vw Polo by .5%. Also how many Vrs' have you seen advertised for sale for less than £7.5K ?.

Auto Express recon it retains 51.5% after 3 years which if you look around secondhand wise is a hell of a lot more accurate. What Car also rate Ford's and Renaults very highly when tested. Enough said really.

I'd agree with that! They know their stuff
