When looking in the configurator, I can see that you can add '4 years subsequent warranty, max 120,000km'. Does this mean it extends the warranty to 7 years (and 75,000 miles)? I hope so, but the wording is a bit odd, compared to what is expected. It would also be a no brainer, at £525!

No! it is £255 for a total of 4 years, 80K or £525 for a total of 100K which ever comes first. I have purchased the 4yr/80k option.

Didn't they use to sell a 5 year warranty as an option? So the new Octavia has a shorter warranty than the old. That sounds like quality engineering.

Although I also admit it's not a Skoda decision but VAG and it's the same story with my gf's VW Golf GTI.

Compare with Kia, who give you 7 years free warranty provided you let them make the service, at least in Sweden...

Part of the difference will be due to the fact that we have a 3 rd year dealer warranty in addition to the 2 year Skoda one, so are only paying for an extra year with the 4 year extension.

Porsche are part of VAG aren't they? With the Kia warranty you don't have to get it serviced by them. Just needs to be a vat registered garage using genuine spec parts. We also had a Kia dealer confirm this to us when we bought one recently. I think it's eu law.

Porsche are now, they weren't back then. In fact Porsche CEO Wendelin Weidekin tried to play the market and if successful Porcshe would have owned VW! But the stock market slump in 2008 back fired on him, the plan failed and he was kicked out. Great shame because he saved Porsche back in the 1990's, took the company from near bankruptcy to the world's most profitable in the space of 12 years.

I think a new Porsche still only comes with 2 years warranty and there is a compulsory purchase of the 3rd year. If you use the configurator on their website and pick a base model you see your options pice jump up by the value of the 3rd year warranty.

I ordered the care in Romania from Porsche and my Elegance comes standard with extended warranty. Tis means the first 2 years without any mileage limit and after 2 years the limit is 120.000km from the day you bought it.

In other words 2 years if you go over 120.000km and 4 if you stay under 120.000km.

You do have the option to delete the 3rd year warranty, it isn't compulsory.
