Interior monitoring sensors fault code (related to door LED)?

Guys I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding a fault code and a potential issue on my car.

My flashing door LED no longer flashes. In addition to this the fault code as per the VCDS scan below comes back as often as I clear the code (I will post a full scan below).

I read elsewhere on the forum that the flasing LED issue could be related to the backup battery in the alarm siren needing to be replaced (they last approx 6 years, correct?) Are the two/three things related? Problems I am thinking of are:

* Interior monitoring sensors are knackered, door LED doesn't work as a result

* Backup battery going, throws up fault code as above, door LED doesn't work as a result.

* Door LED doesn't work, the fault above is just a coincidence.

If I sit in the car, arm the alarm and wait and then move around, the alarm sounds. I have ATA set to on so the car alarm beeps when locking and unlocking the doors and all hazard lights flash. The rest of the scan is below, ignore some of the other faults, they're either not related or my own doing.

Not really. But I do have a spare interior monitoring sensor that doesn't throw up any fault codes if you want to try it.

As a suggestion: I'll post it to you and if it works & solves the oroblem you buy it off me (if you want to), if it doesn't post it back to me.

Open to other suggestions, but I can't recall where you are based.

Presume you have looked up the fault code on the VCDS Wiki?

Was the cable used owned by you? If so, email Ross Tech and make use if their support. Both times I've had need to contact them they have been excellent.

That would be really good Karl thank you, I'll pay your postage whatever happens. It would be good to rule it out as the wiki says to check the wiring or the sensors.

I can't remember when the led stopped flashing and if it worked before I had a Fiscon installed. Wondering if the two might be related (ie the installer fishing around that area to fit the mic).

This fault code: "00469 - Infotainment Databus in Single Wire Operation" isn't on the Ross Tech site and might be indicitative of something not being wired up correctly.

I think 00649 was as a result of test fitting the auto light switch just in case the wiring was present. It wasn't and I think this caused the fault.

Having fitted Karl's spare interior monitoring sensor, I can't get the car to replicate the fault code it had previously been showing. However, there was still no sign of life from the LED.

This morning I took the door card off and discovered the LED to have become disconnected and plugged it back in. On locking the car the LED flashed once and once only, trying to repeat locking the car does nothing either, so I have taken the LED out and for the sake of a couple of quid, ordered a new one in to TPS (in case it popped the first and only time it flashed).

Other than that, could the single flash indicate a problem? The alarm siren sounds when triggered from inside the car (it's a siren and not just the horn sounding, correct?) and I get the tones when locking and unlocking. I have tried the output test with VCDS for the interior monitoring active light but this didn't do anything. I'm not sure it is meant to though as I then tested on my wife's Golf with working LED and it didn't do anything then either.

Any thoughts?

All I can say is that the new sensor seems to cured the fault codes, and that the siren is indeed separate to the horn.

I think the LED in the door should flash every couple of seconds after locking with the remote. I will double check this at work tomorrow. The interior monitoring fault code you had is one of the most common codes on a Octavia around this age. Generally nothing to worry about and the sensor still usually work fine. As it says in your scan, the fault code has only occurred once and is intermittent. But at least you know it all works, like KBPhoto said. None of the other recorded fault codes on your vehicle in this instance would affect the LED. And yes, it is a separate siren making the noise when the alarm goes off.

Been trying to reply and also PM Karl for a few days but normally manage about 5 mins at the end of the day and either fall asleep holding my phone or the battery runs out!

Turns out my LED stopped working as it had become disconnected. It didn't work when reconnected presumably because it was somehow pulled and that broke the connection when stretched. A new one is less than a fiver from VW and now fitted, it works properly.

My alarm still functioned as it should with the fault code on the interior monitoring listed.

Good stuff! Cheers for the feedback. Just for future info in case anyone ever wants to know something random... A 58 plate Octy's LED flashes 7 times in quick succession straight after locking the car with the remote. Then flashes once every 2 seconds after.
