child seats

Featured Replies

how many do you think you can get across in a Vrs

just found out we're expecting our third child :peek:

So what's the mileage/age and how much do you want for it? ;)

Or, I don't think you can get 3 child seats in the back.

not looking good then

I had 2 in a Polo and the gap in the middle wasn't enough for even a slim person to sit in.

We're in the same situation and we were told that halfords do a slim booster seat that *may* fit. But other than then its a no :-(

uh oh

Hmm, we regularly have Group 2 child seats in the back of ours and definitely couldn't squeeze one in the middle. You can get a slim booster 'cushion' (no back) which might squeeze in the middle but that would only be viable if your eldest is tall enough to only need a cushion-type booster seat.

The Fab is certainly one of the narrower small family cars out there that's for sure. I like it's narrowness though but not so good if you've more than 2 little 'uns!

I have two of Britax KidFix SICT in our Roomster and there is no space for a middle seat passenger, unless if he / she is a kind of circus acrobat. Of course I have no idea what the space could be with a different pair of child seats.

well I went in toy r us and was told that if you have 3 across the one in the middle doesnt need a booster seat (not sure on that) but they did have an inflatable booster that is designed for such a thing so for £30 thought it was worth a punt

will admit not needed for a while yet, but will test fit at weekend

Have had 3 child seats in the back of our Roomster that will not fit in a Yeti, the reason being the outer 2 seats in the Roomster can be in front or behind the middle seat, this cannot happen in a Yeti. The only other types of car that do fit 3 seats across row 2 are those with all 3 seats separate (Citroen Picasso, Toyota Verso, Fiat Doblo). None of the soft roaders are wide enough either (Mitsubishi ASX, Pug 4008 etc).

You can really upset a dealer by taking 3 child seats into the showroom and indicating exactly why you will not buy a particular model :)

An Octy does take 3 child seats in the back, but they must be narrow enough. You'll need to spend a good amount of time looking for the right ones, but it's possible. Proven constructively by a colleague of mine (kids aged 5, 7 and 11).

If you want to shell out enough, I saw an article a while ago in Evo, where the editor fitted 3 in the back of his M3.

He got a firm to make him a special seat, from 3 to 5 spaces wide, that fits in the back of specified cars.

I think it was a couple of hundred quid. no good if you have 2 seats and want a third, cos there's no way to fit a third in the middle of a Fabia.

Our booster seat won't even squeeze between the two seats and at 4 and 5, I don't like them not having the back fitted to the seat either.

And your post is the answer to my question. Your last phrase is epic.

Your last phrase is epic.
SWMBO thought I was a nutter going round every dealer in the area to make sure the seats would fit. Vauxhall dealer was crestfallen to see a Meriva wasn't even close to fitting the seats and I would have to take seats out of row 2 in a standard Zafira to gain access to row 3 (daft bench sliding action). I was downsizing from a Toyota Verso anyway so the test was to find a true 5 seater car.

That confirms the rule. They are the same no matter the Country of origin. :giggle:

We did the same when we wanted to have one car instead of two (Octavia Mk1 1.6 hatch and Fabia Mk1 1.2 hatch)
