Thanks for all of your informations,but for the moment the subby will stay wired like that.

The sound in the car is very satisfying...no distorsions,no rattles(the doors are now insulated),the upgraded twitters(from a Merc) are very crisp,the sub sounds right ,warm and low in frequence.The HU doesn't heat no more than usual,I was very careful....and above all that I don't have much time and electrics/electronics is far from my strong point.

And if the HU will fail,screw it!70 pounds I'll get a new one

Meh, I used to meddle in loudspeaker design a bit. Specifically, I used to come up with new designs to people's vintage cabinets that they were very attached to for sentimental reasons. Crossover design is definitely the fiddly bit in this respect, since normally you would choose your drive units, and design your enclosure around them. I had to pick drive units to match enclosures, and then try to get all drive units evenly matched (some of them were 3-way designs) and then design a crossover to suit. Sometimes it was easier than others. I also came up with a few designs from scratch to order, but didn't do this often as my cabinet making skills are crap, and getting somebody else to do it really cuts into the budget. Haven't buggered about with this stuff properly for about 15 years now, though.

I would definitely try and get that amp working.

How have you been gitting on with it? I quite fancy trying this but would want to keep my Skoda head unit (want to keep it a close to ome as possible).
