Intercoolers...

Featured Replies

Again, covered by many... but not a definitive answer.

Have searched, every post I read ends with seat sport intercooler being cheapest.

Pricing is irrelevant in the matter. Just looking which has the bigger core and build quality ?

Forge or THS seat sport style intercooler ?

Dark side pipework will be used anyway.

Forge being popular, but has anyone got the THS one?

Thanks

Luke

Quite a few have the THS one, It's alot thicker core than a standard seat sport one, given another chance I would go for the THS one!

Ths cooler is way thicker see picture lol this is mine

Lol thanks !

THS performance I think they're called.

I've got the forge seat sport style intercooler. It's a great bit of kit. I paid £500 for the complete kit, but it seems the price has gone up. You might get the cooler separately though..

I have the forge kit, fits perfectly , no issues fitting or using. It was expensive , but as they say , it's plug and play

trev

If price isn't an issue have a look at the Pro Alloy item, it'll come with it's own pipework. Jabbasport are the guys to speak to if you go for one.

Thanks for all the replies.

THS seems the better option still.

I want little silicone joins as possible.

I like the pro alloy option but the cooler, is it not only the lower recess ?

THS intercooler is the one us guys advise on the seat Cupra.net site

It's better at cooling than the seat sport cooler with bigger cores and welded end caps so also stronger and less Likly to leak.

Plus half the price of the forge cooler

What do you mean by lower recess? It is a substantial intercooler that does not require crash bar modification as far as I know and the pipework does not obstruct the towing eye like some do. As far as performance is concerned, I'm pretty sure it'll cope with whatever can be produced from our engines.

Allard do an FMIC also, not an option mentioned yet.

THS cooler & Darkside pipework

THS cooler & Darkside pipework

This is what I would be buying if i was to buy all over again. A proper job!

It doesn't require crash bar modification because it has to come off :D

This is why I opted for the forge option , fits behind crash bar, no way should that be cut , I don't know , but I'm sure a insurance company would not pay out on a claim , if they knew part of the front crash bar was missing ?

Here's a quick pic of my forge SS style intercooler.

The core of that ths one doesnt look any deeper than the standard seat sport one

Obviously a better made cooler for higher bhp but doesnt look any deeper that a seatsport one

I'm pleased with my SS one. Worst thing I think is that it isn't very noticeable and doesn't sit central!

You can't see the full thickness in the pic. The slam panel hides it from that angle.

It is really well made though :)

Out of interest Dan how thick is the SS one?

I'll measure mine tomorrow so we can update with some core depths
