Parcel Shelf - broken

Hi all,

recently purchased a 2010 Fabia hatchback.

love it - however, the parcel shelf has broken on the passenger side (nearside) mount.

i'm not talking about the shelf hinge - i'm talking about the plastic moulded part that the shelf actually rests on.

it seems this part is a moulded part of the boot trim panel - so its not a case of getting a separte component which is very annoying.

not sure how it broke, buts its broke, and i want to fix it.

and its the little plastic part protruding from the top of the trim panel thats split. any more load on it and it'll shear off completely sooner or later.

will an epoxy resin sort this out?

or am i going to have to make some sort of bracket to make it stronger?

i thought of making a plastic sheet screwed to the trim panel (to help spread the load/stress) with a bit of studding pushed through with bolts doubled up on one side that are the same diamter as the original hinge rest.....(locking nuts so they dont work loose and rounded off so the shelf can pivot smoothly)

could be overkill though.

we use the boot alot and i think the mrs is less than considerate when closing the boot/checking the parcel shelf is located correctly and isnt going to interfere with the boot door.....
