Broken coil Fabia MK1 6y2

Featured Replies

I wanted to put in new sparkplugs in the old Fabia because i had an engine light and rough running engine.
i probably found the cause as the middle coil had broken into half.
Now, how do I get the half coil up from that derp hole?
It is the part resting on the sparkplug and sitting stuck about 3 inches down.
any suggestions as how to lift it up so I can replace both sparkplug and coil???

Could I drill a hole and put in a long screw, or is that not how to do that??

Heeeeeeeelp 😜

Do you have anything like this: https://www.screwfix.com/p/magnusson-long-nose-pliers-200mm/1133v ?

There may not be enough space around it.

Maybe, give it a try.

Otherwise maybe try to break it up and then use a vacuum cleaner to suck out debris?

If you get hold of it enough, maybe try rotating it before pulling? that might break any adhesion that it has.

Thanks Wino, I’ll give it my best try with the long nose first, otherwise it will be the drill exercisr I guess. 👍

A long screw did the trick, it came up just like a cork in a winebottle :-)
