Hamilton's career

Featured Replies

I thought he'd gone a bit too far into Celebrity when I saw an advert of him making daft poses in daft looking clothes in a magazine someone showed me.

He looked a right berk and can't need the money...

Here we go...

Woooow, did not see that one!!! Dear Lord Almighty, WTF!!!

That is even before he got all inked up... That's what happens when your girlfriend is a mega pop star and you tend to reveolve in such circles - rubs off...

On the other hand his racing career will not last forever and despite making hundreds of millions so far he will need something to do later in life or will end up blowing off his fortune like plenty of sports stars do.

Here we go...

That poor 300SL; how it is suffering!

Those photos are awful, I hope he got paid well to make himself look like such a tit!

There was a "Photoshop Lewis Hamilton" thread on PH because of these pictures. He's definitely lost some focus but maybe he thinks being more relaxed will help. It's all his management companies doing. He was on Saturday Night Takeaway not long ago not doing much. But this has always gone on with drivers being seen as celebrities. Sir Jackie, James Hunt, Graham Hill, etc all did TV appearances. I reckon he's got 3 years to get another world title before he can forget it. Next year will be crucial.

Just read that article and it's John Watson who is moaning. Can't he just go to a retirement home now?

I think they would all love to aspire to Hunt's panache and style but none is even close :).

Come to think about it one wonders what effect playboy life style and all that press that comes with it has on his racing team? Surely if he was spending all his time in the factory trying to help them then the morale would be sky high...

Whatever Watson says pales to insignificance aster seeing those photos :D

I thought you'd like them. :giggle:

Oh great, looks like I came across "chavvy" at HowFast? :D

Meh, these pictures are nothing new, most of the grid have done them in the past.

  • 3 weeks later...

He raced a Red Arrow at RAF Scampton yesterday. Wonder if he'll be on Topgear again in the coming weeks?

Hope he was in a 2010 car and not a 2013 one. We don't want another tribunal

Exactly, even Button who is generally more down to earth is doing those horrible Santandar adverts at the moment.

John

And the Head and Shoulders adverts

But at least he's not dressed like an utter Chav!

He just doesn't seem to be as focused or enjoying himself as much as he used to. At the beginning of this season he seemed to be enjoying it again but has gone back to how he was. I think he is over thinking things a lot reading some of the articles about him. Saddens me as I love the guy (not a fan of the above pics lol) and want him to do well and get all the success he deserves. Still think he'll retire with 2-3 championships.

He's too young to retire still. He's got a figthing chance to rather well this year and next year all bets are off .

Unfortunately he's always been a grumpy looser and is not able to handle adversity with class, say like JB is able to pull off.

Thye knew what was causing tyres to blow, and it has nothing to do with the tyres themselves, yet still he is convinced the tyres should made to suit his aggrerssive kerb-using driving style...

It's everything to do with the tyres! Lol if you watched it they all use the kerbs. That's racing. It's absurd to think it was the kerbs causing the blow outs. The tyres are made of jelly. And if they can't use the kerbs when racing then that's ridiculous.

It's how you use the kerbs - too greedy and tyres will get cut to ribbons on the inside of the side wall by the kerb. Use the kerb, no problem, but use it the way it doesn't destroy the tyres.

Otherwise it's like saying "What do you mean I cannot drift into each corner and fish tail out of each corner?!? Tyres won't take it? They are made of Jelly!".

They should be able to do whatever the hell they want with the tyre (within reason) and it should survive. This isn't anything to do with ethics or rules of racing. It's a safety issue, nothing more or less.

Yes, you are right, the tyres should not be catastrophically delaminating as they were flinging steel belts at 150mph. On the other hand, even we know that rubbing tyres along kerbs or driving into sharp ones can only have one result...

But, I think we have a separate thread for the F1 tyres issue :)

What I am interested re Hamilton's career now is how is he going to react to Nico's two wins and his none...

Theoretically any of the first six in the standings could win it now...

Lewis to me is looking like he is finally getting comfortable in the Merc now. He has said from the start he wasnt 100% happy in it but this weekend he looks much more at one with the car, smashed it in qualifying and for a short period he was leading looked to be settled in nicely. He made a error in leaving too much of a gap to Nico in Monaco which cost him second, and the babybel tyres cost him the win at Silverstone (Ok vettel might have been able to give him a go but Nico was no where near).

As much as his personal life has sometimes got in the way of things, being in the news for the wrong things, he is a racer at heart, silly pictures or not, you can tell that getting out on the track is what makes him tick.

Once Lewis is happy with the car it will get interesting, there is always teething issues when swapping teams, I think they (NR & LH) are a pretty good match for each other but I think Lewis when his is on it is one of the top drivers in F1 easy. He is only young, plenty of time yet to become one of the greats, F1 is entering a new era next year, with Merc he has every chance of doing that.
