eeeek just put 55 litres in the tank

Featured Replies

Just had a quick look around and it seems the Octavia has a 55 litre tank.

Think I was lucky not to run out!

Mmm lucky indeed must have been on the fuel that filled up the neck from last time !

As an aside last week I done Newark to Leatherhead In a 1.6 Diesel Peugout 308 with stop/start a distance of about 170 miles and got 51 mpg.

I done it today in my petrol Vrs and got 44mpg !

Driving with traffic as the A1/A421/M1/M25 doesn't really allow spirited driving, more go with the flow 60-85 mph mostly.

So I had more fuel in my car than I expected when I got home !

Looks like I had a run of them:

1/4/13 52.34L £74.79. 499 miles since last fill

12/4/13. 55.73L. £79.64. 427 miles

18/4/13. 55.58L. £79.42. 515 miles

24/4/12. 52.70L. £74.25. 414 miles

4/5/13. 55.12L. £74.91. 400 miles

Most I've got in it since 22/7/12 (when I started recording) was 56.28 litres.........

And I thought I was lucky at just over 55 litres. You've had a run of 55's and a 56!

Either way don't want to temp fate, fill be filling up a little sooner next time.

Very lucky, especiakly if you have a derv

My old civic had a really good way to stop you running out. Light didnt come on till you were below the red and at that point there was still 7 litres left

That's nothing, mine was that low a few weeks back I got 57 litres in!

I routinely run mine to the last red notch on the guage and get 57 L in when filling up. That's to first click on the pump nozzle, so I must be filling part of the neck, I'm just suprised it goes over as much as 2 L.

Do others just fill to 55 L irrespective of nozzle clicks to ensure they only fill the fuel tank? I think I read somewhere on here that brimming the tank is a bad idea in terms of integrity of some of some of the tubing?

as a rule i always fill mine when it get to 1/4 mark on the dial.

That's proper fuel light roulette. I get jumpy when I'm on 1/3 but I do have a long commute and like to buy my fuel at the cheapest garage.

I always run mine well down, usually the fuel remaining counter on the maxidot says about 20 miles left in the tank, then I fill up and fill it right to the brim, gives me a more accurate indication of consumption. I can usually get between 55 and 58 litres in one filling.

I go till it says 5 miles remaining then fill till frst click. I normally drive round town so not far from a garage

Not having a trip computer, I look out for the reserve warning ping, then do another 100 miles. This generally leads to a 57 L refill.

based on the above comments, is it plausabile to say then, that the octavia has a 55L tank + a ??L reserve?

One of my local dealers (when I required about the lack of fuel in a courtesy car a not just on the reserve but at 0 miles until fill) that you have about 20 miles once the display shows zero. Not site I'd want to try it though.......

Wow - just yesterday I put 54 litres in and thought I was cutting it fine (just turned over to 0 miles too). In my previous car, a Mazda 3, i'd driven at least 10 miles with it showing 0 and still only managed to get about 49 litres in. So 57+ litres possible? I still had about 25 miles left then! :)

I forgot to fill my 07 octavia vrs on the way to work the other week. I got 15miles from work to fuel station on 0 miles on the display

Got about 56liters to the first click as brimming it used to result in the EML coming on and a error code , fuel vapour release valve low pressure

I would often put 50kms up after the Maxidot says 0.

What app is that?

My last fill was 52 litres and I thought that was perhaps cutting it a bit fine. Clearly not! But I had done over 600 miles from that tank, which I didn't think was too bad from a vRS.

Sarge.

What app is that?

Road trip lite (other apps are available - but this one was free and does the job I want/need it to).

I brim my vRS CR DSG to the absolute top and get 600 miles. I'm well impressed with the MPG.

Been well past zero range a good few times, 57litres to the click most i have noted. Can drive car loaded down from Holland to NI on a tank when using it a lot my range between fills is 500-630. Not a big fan of overfilling especially a diesel, seen and experienced the criminal negligences consequences on 2 wheels.

All this presuming that the fuel pumps r accurate!!

Did u actually get 57 litres into ur fuel tank, or was the fuel pump calibrated to show slightly more than wat was delivered through the nozzle!?!?

Its not unheard of here. Its a business afterall - owners will do anything to make money.
