Anyone run JOM coilies?

Featured Replies

Any of the mk2 owners running these JOM coilovers? I'm thinking of some for my 2011 2.0tdi vrs, so are they the right ones for a start? I done a search seems the fabia and a few octy mk1 guys are running them. Also google throws up reviews from golf and a3 owners, the majority are very appraising i was surprised to find  But wouldn't mind a review from someone who actually has them on a vrs and maybe even a wee piccytooor?

Under £200 for 4 shocks and 4 springs.

OEM Economy Springs and Shocks would set you back £400 for the parts.

I'd have to question either the damping quality or the longevity of those of anything at that price.

Saying that I've not run them, so I don't have a car that had them on and you're probably right to ask.

As well as ride though, It'd be interesting to see if anyone has done big miles on them.

I think someone on here (might not be anymore) ran some on theirs. I think you get what you pay for - they're basic. I suspect it was JOM/TA/FK Street type things I had on my old Polo GTI and they were quite franky horrid on anything other than dead smooth roads.

£15k car spoilt by £200 coilovers. No.

I've done a fair bit of research into this recently as I want to drop my car and as a minimum I'd be looking at FK Highsports. APs (similar price) are also meant to be very good but don't go anywhere near as low as the FKs. Bit more and the Weitecs seem to be the ones to get but you're looking at £600+ for some of those but it seems money well spent as they improve the ride of the car whilst lowering it.

I've just fitted FK Highsports on mine seem very good for the money Damian @ DPM Performance was brilliant to deal with

Avoid at all cost!! Mate had some JOM's on his mk1 fabia awful things. He now has AP's and rates them very highly.

I have joms on my 1.9 and i really like them car handles good with them rides a noticable diffrence from oem but its not break your back back though im very happy with them done 2years about 15k with them so far with a 60mm drop. My mate has a passat b5 with the oem sport springs and you feel the holes and bumps more in it.

I have just fitted a set of prosport coilovers to mine and can't fault them, firm but comfy and handles like its on rails

Cheers guys, was lookin at 30mm lowering but seeing as these wernt far off the same price thinkin of goin for them instead. Wilson do u have a picture of your car so I can see how it site? ChubbyMatt, how much did ur prosport kit set u back if u don't mind me askin :)

£200 plus a set of adjustable drop links, I found some sellers on eBay will go lower if u pm them asking for there best price ;-)

Mine are wound all the way down too so about 60mm front and 75mm rear and I can go most places and get over most speed humps unless they are the Everest ones

Think i'm sold on getting coilies now that looks great, how does it handle speed humps?

Handles great, not too bad on speed bumps except the big ones, remember you need adjustable drop links too, probs best to get a 4 wheel alignment and camber afterwards too as I'm running camber on the rear but I like that

If you fit coilovers do you have to have adjustable drop links ?

If you want to go low yeah, think the rule is any lower than 45mm u need them but won't hurt having them anyways

+1 nail, head.

I have no experiece of the JOM brand but you can google a whole bunch of negative stuff around them. Generally where suspension is concerned you get what you pay for IMO.

For "value for money" coilovers several people on here have had good experience with AP (about 400 quid IIRC).

At the very least I'd suggest you have a ride in a jom equipped car before you decide to buy.

I looked at joms and decided to spend a bit more and buy the next ones up, I managed to barter them from £250 down to £200 delivered and IMO I cannot fault my prosport coilovers, look nice too being annodised blue and chrome

As with most things you get what you pay for but for the money the JOM kit is a good option if you want something more towards the budget range.
