new valeo smf clutch

Featured Replies

Not long had a valeo clutch fitted. Solid flywheel. Now when i accelerate it makes like a loud rattling noise for about a second. Then it dissapears. Anyone else have this clutch and have the same problem?? Or does anyone know how so dolve it??

Cheers.

Mick.

Strange that is.Many of us on the MK2 Octy section have been converted to SMF using Valeo and nobody has reported this.Should be silky smooth, quiet and very responsive with no rattling even on idle.

have a good look around engine bay make sure nothing has come loose

Ive noticed the loud rattle (tractor like) at 2000 to 2200 rpm when i put the foot down. Ive only done 200 miles on this clutch. Just wondering if yours were ok??

Mick.

We had one fitted a while back, drove it about 5 miles, took it back, and had it replaced with a DM.Couldn't of lived with it.

Its the box.

Mine does it too. Ive put an extra 300ml of oil in the box which has helped but still sounds crap.

Not impressed with the smf conversion on the fabia.

My mk1 octy tho was no noisier when I did it on that.

Mine does this too, as well as chattering around 1.4k rpm when I let off.

I agree with shammy it is rather annoying and I miss the quietness of my DMF but I'd rather not fork out mre money for labour and a new clutch kit so I'm just going to live with it.

I get a lot of chatter.. wonder if I have a smf or I expect more likely that my dmf is on its way out!

My DMF was shaking on idle quite a bit before I took it out.

Valeo SMf fitted today. Got it for 90 nicker o.o. had done 10 miles. First impressions, a little louder with clutch depressed but quieter with foot on clutch than my neutralized dmf. No extra vibration pulling thought the revs for me or chatter easing off :). A little juddery pulling away slow but just a case of mastering it. So far so good, I will update if my opinion changes. This kit was listed to fit a ford galaxy :D pays to have done some homework. I had it fitted with a new Sachs concentric slave, fingers crossed but i'm happy so far. Bloody garages though just had a once round under the bonnet and found the vac pipe to the air box pulled off and stuffed behind the ecu lol. I always check when getting my car back after work has been done with good reason.

I payed 360 quid for my full kit. I hate it already. Part number 835050 or something like that. Think ill be taking it out. Cant really afford the helix system the now. Anyone recommend any other clutches. Its making my vrs sound like a tractor.

Mick.

How many miles have you done with the kit?. I have read many forums saying they get quieter in time. Isn't it nice to plant it without fear of clutch slip though?.

I will be going for a DMF when I change mine then.

Was thinking about the Valeo kit, but glad others ventured before me :)

I really don't see the point in getting another dmf for it to be rattling again in 20 thousand miles. Guess it depends on much you trust your right foot.

They dont quieten you just get more used to it.

They are really crap sounding but they are great to drive. Powerful and really bite hard.

Shame about the sounds

Yep sounds horrible. It bites nice but I find pulling away slowly to be juddery at times.

It pulls with a great bite. Its just that stupid shuddering. I have only done a few hundred miles in it. Just that shudder makes me want to get rid. Apart from that it is excellent. If you drive normal it doesnt shudder. Only when you floor it.

Mick.

Give more gas on pull off helps and after a while your driving style gets tuned to it. I dont get shudder now only in reverse but I have a dual friction kit on mine not a std style clutch plate.

Tge shuddering goes after a while when fully bedded in.

Ill give it a run out and see how it goes. Hopefully it dissapears coz its a great clutch. Just cant handle that shudder. Cheers guys.

Mick.
