VRS Servicing

Featured Replies

Service warnings just shown on my fabia, only had a couple of weeks, do I service it myself or take it to skoda to preserve the history?

Take it to an independent specialist and you will preserve the history and you will save a few quid too.

Depends on what you intend to do with it? FSSH will always retain more value and make it more saleable, if it already has Skoda history this may help towards a good will repair may anything go wrong (not rule of thumb but its always handy)

If it a new car and you want to sell on in the near future then consider Skoda or a VAG specialist (tbh these normally do a better job then Skoda) but if its a few years old, already had an independant garage touch it then just carry on with the independants

Welcome to the forum.

?When was it first registered and how many miles has it done & what services already.?

Ones registered in 2010-11 should possibly have had an ECU Update done or may need it.

1 year/10,000 miles Oil Service, (£85-£110)

2 year/20,000 mile Inspection Service. including Pollen Filter. £177-£230)

3 year/30,000 to include brake fluid change.

40,000 miles new spark plugs. i would check and change at 20,000.

Depends lots on what the Miles and History of the car is.

It might be best to have a Skoda Service done, and get some piece of mind.

Nothing to stop you doing your own or going Independent, (VAT Registered Garage and correct parts Used.)

think of how much warranty you got when buying and how long of the Manufacturers Warranty is left.

??Any reason it was not serviced before you bought it if it was due., or is it just the Service Indicator is not Re-Set.?

You can go do that yourself quite easily.

Thanks all,

I think I'll try and find a Skoda dealer to keep the history intact, I've had a quick look around for a centre in my area, would any VAG group centre do it?

It's a 60 plate with 36000 miles, I'm not entirely sure if its just the service warning or if it actually needs a service, I'll ring the dealer I got it from in the morning.

Any Invoices in the Folder showing what oil was put in at 10,000 & 20,000 miles, and the costs,

& if it is Fixed or Variable servicing.

Is there not a 'Service Book/record with the car,

stamped with the PDI date when new, then the Service Intervals and services done already ?

Just dug out the service book (not the best at organisation!) all services have been independent garages so I'll probably carry on with my local garage, save me a bit of money as well.

Last service was 10k ago, so the warning is on the button, only filters and fluid changes so far though, due some new spark plugs I think, and worth having a look at the brakes.

The service comes up at 9400 miles or by days, as shown on the pics i posted,

Unless it gets reset to be showing service due with 'Variable Servicing'.

(that was a re-set in the pic.)

It takes 3.6 litres of Fully Synthetic 5W 30 or 5W 40,

*Important that you do not overfill with oil.*
